Lewis Capaldi moves out of his 'hell hole' £1.6m farmhouse for a flat

Lewis Capaldi moves out of his 'hell hole' £1.6m farmhouse for a flat

The singer said the property was recommended to him by Ed Sheeran

Lewis Capaldi has revealed he's had to move out of the ‘hell hole’ property he bought on a recommendation from Ed Sheeran.

The 26-year-old singer splashed out on a £1.6 million rural farmhouse on the outskirts of Glasgow, after deciding he wanted to move out of his parents’ house in lockdown.

And the Scottish singer said it was his pal Sheeran who found him the property after having a look online - but it seems as though Capaldi had a bad case of buyer’s remorse after he bought the gaff only to discover it stunk of dogs and cigarette smoke.

Seems like whoever lived there previously had some 'Bad Habits', eh?

The property is so unsuitable that Capaldi has had to move into a flat while the place undergoes a full renovation to bring it up to scratch.

Speaking on the US radio station 104.3 MYFM, Capaldi said: "Ed Sheeran told me to buy this house and it's an absolute hell hole.

"We were talking during lockdown about how I wanted to move out of my parents' house and he went online and looked at this place and it looked great.

"From the outside it is beautiful, there's sprawling hills, there's a lake.

"He didn't realise that it would smell of cigarette smoke and dog. I moved in and I hated the decor, I hated everything about it.

"I did go and see it but I was too eager. I was like, 'that smell of dog and smoke will go away after a while,' but it didn't. We have ripped that place out and it still reeks of dog and smoke."

Capaldi says the property was recommended to him by Ed Sheeran.

He went on to joke that Sheeran should stump up the cash for the renovation work because he was the one who found it.

"I have made some bad decisions over the last two years and that was one of them,” the singer said.

"I am redoing the house. Ed Sheeran should technically reimburse me for the money I'm having to pay on this.

“Ed is a property tycoon but he's never bought a place in Scotland obviously because mine is awful."

Although it might not be particularly swanky in its current state, Capaldi appears to have big plans to create his dream home.

Earlier this year, he was granted permission to build an extension on the farmhouse, which will include a swimming pool, changing rooms, a spa and sauna.
