Lionsgate is dead keen on making a video game based off the John Wick franchise

Imagine getting to play as the legendary hitman as you rampage through the streets with loads of weapons.

Ah, John Wick. Women want to be with him and men want to be him... and you soon can.

Be him, that is.

Lionsgate, the movie that brought the John Wick franchise to life, is interested in getting a video game about the legendary hitman produced for the masses.

During a recent earnings call with investors, CEO Jon Feltheimer revealed that studio executives have been 'fielding proposals' for a big video game based on the hit movie series starring none other than Hollywood's nicest guy, Keanu Reeves.

But the movie studio boss was wary to let more slip, even to investors.

"I don’t want to get ahead of myself here, but we believe there is a big AAA game to be made out of John Wick. We have been fielding proposals," he said, as per Indie Wire.

This could be you.

"We certainly are interested in moving that forward, but I don’t want to say anything more about that at this time."

Considering that the three movies have all been massive box office hits, Feltheimer may be on to something here.

An action-adventure game would be an incredible fit for John Wick, especially considering that the films boast incredible stunts, graphics, and death-defying storylines.

There already is a John Wick video game, though.

Available on Steam for $29.95, John Wick Hex is a 'fast-paced, action-oriented strategy game that makes you think and strike like John Wick'.

The 2020 game reimagined Reeves' character and turned Wick into a strategy game, sort of like gunfire chess. The reviews aren't great.

Gamers dubbed it 'repetitive' and 'boring', which is the exact opposite of the essence of John Wick.

But the Lionsgate CEO mentioned that they're looking at making a 'AAA game'.

In the gaming industry, AAA standard is an informal classification used to categorise games produced and distributed by a mid-sized or major publisher.

Imagine being THIS GUY in a video game.

Other examples of AAA games include God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Halo.

So otherwise, it means it should be a ripper of a game.

AAA also means that Lionsgate would funnel a larger budget into the game... so fingers crossed.

But if Lionsgate is still just in talks, that means the game is still a while off.

Luckily, another round of baddies are going to bite the bullet at John Wick's hands real soon.

The next instalment in the movie franchise is less than six months away, with Wick promising in the trailer he's 'going to kill them all'.

So, generally the plot of pretty much every John Wick movie at this point.

And we can't wait.

John Wick 4 is due to release in cinemas on 24 March, 2023.
