The Met Gala is known to produce some pretty wild looks, but this year's event has already left people baffled, after a mystery celebrity was spotted being carried out of The Carlyle hotel wrapped up head to toe.

Of course, we have NO idea who's inside the strange bundle, but that's not stopped speculation.

Tweeting footage, one bystander wrote: "RIHANNA AT THE MET GALA AT THE CARLYLE."

Others were convinced it was actually Doja Cat, with one saying: "This is Doja."

Another agreed: "That’s def Doja."

There were also a few votes for a certain 'Paparazzi' singer, with one adding: "If this is not Doja then this Lady Gaga idk."

Others didn't even bother trying to guess, just feeling completely baffled by the whole thing.

"WHO THE HELL," someone tweeted, while another joked it looked like a 'Chanel mummy'.

The annual fundraising gala, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, is famous for guests’ red carpet arrival, where they’re expected to go all out.

This year’s theme is Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, serving as an ode to the late German fashion designer who passed away in February 2019.

Vogue editor-in-chief Dame Anna Wintour said the event would be 'a very emotional night' for her as she paid tribute to her friend Karl Lagerfeld.

Speaking to Vogue on the red carpet, she said: “It’s a very emotional night for me.

“I love Karl so much and it’s just wonderful to see so many people who are turning out to honour him, and give him the recognition that he so deserves.

“Karl was just was so creative, so visionary… (he) invented so many things and at the same time I think was intrinsically the chicest designer that you can ever imagine.”
