Sure, every year the Met Gala brings an array of incredible looks and pieces of fashion but there’s certain celebrities were always most excited about.
And of course, Zendaya is one of them. She’s consistently pulled out incredible outfits since her very first Met back in 2015 from her armoured Versace look in 2018 to that Cinderella-like Tommy Hilfiger gown the year after.
But last year she turned heads for a slightly different reason, as fashion fans couldn’t believe she was wearing an outfit like someone else’s.
Both Zendaya and Anna Sawai had opted for white tailored suits with a wide-brimmed floppy hat as they walked the carpet for the theme 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style', celebrating the legacy of Black dandyism with the 'Tailored for You' dress code.

And in doing so, people thought the Spider-Man star had broken the Met Gala’s supposed ‘golden rule’.

The Dune actor’s fit was a custom Louis Vuitton white tailored suit, designed by music mogul and the luxury brand's Men's Creative Director, Pharrell Williams.
It consisted of a corresponding single-breasted tuxedo, waistcoat, silk shirt and tie with flared trousers, while accessorising with the statement hat.
Meanwhile, Sawai was dressed in Dior, wearing a white wool and silk jacket, paired with matching trousers, a prominent tie and a white poplin shirt.
The Shōgun star complemented this with a white brimmed hat as well as a pair of white gloves.
Of course, their outfits weren’t identical, but it’s rare to see such similar looking pieces on women at the Met Gala (let’s not bother delving into the argument that so many of the men seem to dress similarly).
I mean, it is considered somewhat of a faux pas to show up at a big event in an outfit almost identical to someone else.
And it’s therefore been rumoured that Anna Wintour pre-approves looks for attendees before they arrive.

But Wintour, who has spearheaded the event for decades, has previously confirmed she does not green light guests’ attire.
"Many call and ask our advice, so we try and help some of them as best we can," she explained on Good Morning America. "Some, no idea."
While not everyone believed this, it seems Zendaya and Sawai showing up looking so similar may have finally put the rumours to bed.
"Why's everyone matching? Maybe Anna Wintour should actually approve the outfits next year,” one social media user joked.
While another suggested: “Or, Wintour approved both of them so people would disapprove the rumour..."
Well, I guess we’ll have to see if anyone else breaks the unofficial, unconfirmed ‘golden rule’ this year as they fit the dress code ‘Fashion is Art’.
But tragically, Zendaya is said to be skipping this year's Met Gala - so we seemingly won't get to see what she would have waltzed down the blue carpet in.
