Millie Bobby Brown To 'Make History' For Receiving Highest Upfront Salary For Actor Under 20

Netflix is reported as being set to pay Millie Bobby Brown a staggering figure to reprise her role as Enola Holmes.

Netflix is reported as being set to pay Millie Bobby Brown a staggering figure to reprise her role as Enola Holmes.

The 18-year-old actor - who was thrust into the spotlight by hit supernatural series Stranger Things - first took on the role of detective Sherlock Holmes' sister in 2020.

While Brown was paid a significant sum for her role as Stranger Things' Eleven, the teenager's expected pay-check for the sequel to Enola Holmes is anticipated as making history.

According to Variety, Brown is set to receive $10 million (£8.4 million) for Enola Holmes 2.

If the actor is paid that amount, it will mark the highest upfront salary any actor under the age of 20 has ever been given.

One fan of the Stranger Things star took to Twitter to commend the sum. "As she should. She deserves it," they wrote.

Netflix confirmed there would be a sequel to the 2020 film earlier this year in May.

Taking to Twitter, the streaming service wrote: "A sequel is afoot! Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill will return in ENOLA HOLMES 2."

The official synopsis reads: "Now a detective-for-hire like her infamous brother, Enola Holmes takes on her first official case to find a missing girl, as the sparks of a dangerous conspiracy ignite a mystery that requires the help of friends — and Sherlock himself — to unravel."

As well as Brown reprising her role, Henry Cavill and Sam Claflin are also returning as Enola's older brothers, Sherlock and Mycroft.

According to IMDb, Helena Bonham Carter is also set to reprise her role as Enola's mother, Eudoria Holmes, and Louis Partridge will return as fellow-runaway Tewkesbury.

Harry Bradbeer returns to direct the sequel and the screenplay - developed from the Enola Holmes Mysteries book series by Nancy Springer - is written by Jack Thorne.

The pay-check would double Brown's net worth which reportedly stands at around $10 million (around £8.1 million).

Brown was paid a hefty $20,000 (£16,716) per episode for the first season of Stranger Things. As a result of the show's success, her salary increased and she ended up being paid an estimated $300,000 (£250,000) per episode for season three.

Enola Holmes 2 is set to be released onto Netflix later this year.

She earned $6.1 million (around £5.1 million) for the first Enola Holmes, and was initially anticipated as receiving a figure of around $7.5 million (around £6.3 million) for the sequel.

The inflated figure given by Variety could well be down to the success of Stranger Things' penultimate season which caused Netflix to crash minutes after season four part two was released.

Enola Holmes 2 will be exclusively released onto Netflix at some point later this year.

An exact date has not yet been publicly released.
