MrBeast buys brand new Rolex for $14,000 then sells it for $7,200

He did manage to negotiate an extra $200...

YouTuber MrBeast has left his fans in stitches after selling a Rolex for $7,200, when he paid $14,000 for it.

The content creator has become one of the most widely known personalities on YouTube. Among the most famous was when he hosted a re-enactment of Squid Game with a prize of a staggering $456,000.

I'm pretty sure Squid Game was intended as a parable about how the super-wealthy pit the poor and desperate against each other rather than inspiration for a real-life version, albeit where no one is murdered, but whatever.

However, since then the creator has moved on to other ways to build his platform. Among the more recent was seeing how much he could get at a pawnbroker for a valuable item.

He selected a staple of pointlessly expensive items for when you have so much money you don't know what to do with it: a Rolex watch.

The watch was gold and cost just under $14,000 (£11,000) when he purchased it at the shop. Imagine just dropping that much money on a watch...

He then went into a pawnbroker, which was known for driving a hard bargain with people who went there. So, just a regular pawnbroker then?

After paying $14,000 for the watch, the pawnbroker examined it and offered MrBeast a paltry $7,000 for it - half what he had just paid.

MrBeast did attempt to counteroffer, but his demand wasn't exactly controversial.

MrBeast is quoted the $7,000 price for the watch.

Instead of asking for the full value of the watch he asked for $8,500. So, just committing to taking a loss here.

In the end he managed to negotiate $7,200 with the pawnbroker. Surprisingly he seemed genuinely pleased with this result, commenting that he had gotten an extra $200 out of the transaction.

Nonetheless, the audience was highly amused by the interaction.

One wrote: "Bro just paid that pawn shops rent for a couple months."

Another posted: "The pawnshops will always pay less than what you would pay them for something. Otherwise they would just be giving stuff away."

One person even thought he'd gotten a good deal, saying: "50% of what the item is worth is actually very good for a pawnshop."

The YouTuber has made a name for himself with content that gives things away to participants. It could be a cash prize, or like in one video where he drew a triangle on the ground and offered to pay for whatever someone could fit in it.

With that in mind, maybe a loss of $6,800 on a watch isn't so bad.
