Every time Glastonbury takes a fallow year, there’s a collective sigh from music fans across the country.
No muddy fields, no iconic Pyramid stage headlines and no speculation about surprise sets and secret guests.
While Worthy Farm takes a well-earned break in 2026, there’s another event that’s surprisingly gone under the radar. It’s been quietly putting together one of the most impressive live music line-ups of the summer – and it’s happening in the King’s back garden.
Well, kind of.

Heritage Live is returning to the Royal Sandringham Estate in Norfolk this August, bringing five days of huge outdoor concerts to the royal residence’s sprawling grounds.
With the likes of Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson, Lionel Richie and more iconic names set to perform, it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest music events of the year.
A royal setting unlike any other
Taking place between 19 and 23 August 2026, Heritage Live at Sandringham marks the third time the concert series has transformed part of the famous estate into a live music destination.
The Sandringham Estate serves as the private country retreat of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, with the concerts taking place within the estate’s woodland surroundings.
While it might not have the same sprawling festival footprint as Glastonbury, it offers a similar vibe.
There’s something quite surreal about watching some of the biggest names in music perform while surrounded by trees on a Royal estate that spans around 20,000 acres.
Unlike many other festivals, you don’t need to commit to an entire weekend for it if you only want to see certain headliners.

Five days packed with music legends
Heritage Live has spent the past few months teasing headlines one by one, but the full line-up has not finally been revealed.
The event kicks off on Wednesday 19 August with global superstar Janet Jackson.
The music icon is expected to bring decades of hits to Norfolk, with fans undoubtedly hoping to hear classics such as ‘All For You’ , ‘Someone To Call My Lover’ and ‘Together Again’.
She’s joined by special guests Wyclef Jean and Soul II Soul, making for a seriously strong opening night.

Thursday night sees another music heavyweight take centre stage as Lionel Richie arrives at Sandringham.
The singer behind crowd favourites including ‘Hello’, ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’, ‘Easy’ and ‘All Night Long’ will be supported by Dave Stewart's Eurythmics, Joss Stone and Brooke Combe.
If there's one evening likely to have thousands of people singing every word back at the stage, this could well be it.

Christina Aguilera brings the powerhouse vocals
One of the most anticipated announcements came when Heritage Live confirmed Christina Aguilera as Friday night’s headliner on 21 August.
Aguilera's catalogue is packed with huge pop anthems, from ‘Genie in a Bottle’ and ‘Dirrty’ through to ‘Beautiful’, ‘Fighter’ and ‘Candyman’.
It's the kind of set that appeals to both longtime fans and anyone who grew up listening to 2000s pop music and is her only UK date in 2026.
With Craig David and Blue warming up the crowd beforehand, the Friday in Norfolk is shaping up to be one giant nostalgia-fuelled night.

From Latin pop to rock royalty
The party atmosphere doesn't stop there.
Saturday sees Ricky Martin headline with support from Sugababes and Olly Alexander.
The Puerto Rican star is expected to bring plenty of energy to Sandringham with tracks such as ‘Livin' La Vida Loca’ and ‘She Bangs’.
Meanwhile, Sugababes continue to prove why they've become one of the most in-demand live acts around, while Olly Alexander adds another layer of pop appeal to an already stacked day.
Heritage Live Ricky Martin – 22 August 2026
£90.10
Then on Sunday, the festival wraps up with Eric Clapton.
The legendary guitarist will be joined by Ronnie Wood & His Band and additional guests for what promises to be a fitting finale to five full days of music.
Heritage Live Eric Clapton – 23 August 2026
£140.75
Is it a good Glastonbury alternative?
Part of what makes Glastonbury special is its ability to bring together artists from completely different worlds.
While Heritage Live is obviously a different experience, it captures some of that same variety. In past years, they've had headliners that included Robbie Williams, Mariah Carey and Michael Bublé.
Across the five days this year, you've got pop royalty, R&B icons, Latin superstars, soul legends and rock heavyweights all sharing the same venue.
It's rare to find an event where Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Ricky Martin, Lionel Richie and Eric Clapton, plus the incredible support acts, all appear on the same bill.
For music fans suffering from Glastonbury withdrawal symptoms, that's not a bad alternative.

What to expect at Heritage Live 2026?
Having attended previous Heritage Live events at Sandringham, one thing that often surprises first-time visitors is how much there is to do beyond the music itself.
The site features food and drink stalls throughout the venue, giving people plenty of options between performances.
There are also fairground attractions that help create more of an event atmosphere rather than simply feeling like a standard outdoor gig.
For anyone worried about standing all day, there are deckchairs available to hire, allowing you to relax and enjoy the performances from a dedicated spot.
You'll also find picnic benches and hay bales dotted around the site, creating plenty of places to sit down and take in the surroundings while listening to the hits being performed on stage.
Are tickets still available?
The good news for anyone interested is that tickets remain available across the event.
As each day is sold separately, fans can pick and choose exactly which artists they want to see rather than committing to the full five-day run.
With several artists only making limited UK appearances this year, some of these shows could represent one of the few chances British fans get to see them live in 2026.
If spending an evening watching global superstars perform in the grounds of the King's country estate sounds appealing, Heritage Live might just be the festival-sized gap filler you've been looking for.
