Lola Young has addressed her collapse on stage during a recent performance in New York.
The British artist burst into the limelight last year with her alternative pop hit 'Messy', which topped the UK Singles Charts, three years after being nominated for the Brit Award for Rising star in 2021.
Young was born in London in 2001 and would go on to win the Open Mic UK singing competition at the age of 15, before graduating from BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in 2018.
The up-and-coming artist has been performing a number of shows in the US recently but a medical emergency during her set at the All Things Go festival in New York on Saturday (27 September) left fans worried, as the young artist had to be carried offstage by a medical unit after collapsing.
Remi Wolf, an artist signed to the same label, addressed the crowd after the incident, stating: "My friend Lola is backstage, and she is okay," only after saying: “That was really f***ing scary.”
Young was one of many artists who performed at the festival (Marleen Moise/Getty Images) Young was singing her 2023 tune 'Conceited', which was also her first song to chart.
Fans took to social media to share their concern but luckily, Young provided an update to fans, confirming that she was 'OK'.
She posted an Instagram story, which read: "Hi, for anyone who saw my set at All Things Go today, I am doing okay now. Thank you for all of your support Lola xxx."
Young's collapse happened days after the singer cancelled a performance in New Jersey, citing mental health as the reason for the decision, though she spoke about this on stage yesterday, admitting it had been 'a tricky couple of days'.
Speaking to the audience, she said: “Sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue."
Young assured fans that she was safe and well (Instagram/lolayounggg) “But you know what? Today I woke up and I made the decision to come here, and I wanted to be cool. Sometimes life can throw you lemons, and you just gotta make lemonade.”
The Brit has also previously admitted that she has recurring vocal cord cysts which caused issues with her singing, which has also caused her to cancel some shows here and there.
Her manager, Nick Shymansky, posted on the artist's Instagram story that he recommended she cancel her performance in New Jersey for her well-being.
But earlier this week, Young delivered an impressive performance and talk while at the National Sawdust venue in Brooklyn, speaking about her challenges with mental health and substance abuse, as she often does and like she sings about on 'Messy'.
