Among all the incredible surprises that took place at Glastonbury across the weekend, there was one truly special guest that left viewers ‘in tears’.

As Dua Lipa was joined on the Pyramid Stage by Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker on Friday (28 June), Coldplay followed up the next evening by bringing out the likes of Little Simz during their headline set.

And then, for a unique rendition of some of their hits, the British band brought out the one and only Michael J. Fox.

Appearing for a touching reason, the Back to The Future actor has now broken his silence after getting Glastonbury viewers pretty emotional on Saturday.

The legendary 63-year-old, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s aged just 29 in 1991, joined the band on stage in a wheelchair.

Well-known for his performance as Marty McFly back in the iconic film franchise, Fox accompanied Coldplay for their tracks ‘Humankind’ and the moving ‘Fix You’ on his guitar.

And BBC viewers at home said they were ‘baaaaawling’ at the performance as the ‘legend’ was given ‘his moment’ at the festival.

And sharing snaps and clips from his time on Worthy Farm, the actor wrote on Instagram yesterday: "My team : Lauren, John and Jeff and Steve. Glastonbury all the love and thanks to the @coldplay team who took such great care of us.

“And many thanks to Chris, Will, Johnny, Guy and Phil. Oh yeah in case you were wondering…it was f*cking mind blowing.

"There is a time for every band and a band for every time. This is @coldplay’s time. More pics to come.”

As well as a behind-the-scenes insight from Coldplay’s set, he shared a snap of a sign reading ‘Coldplay Special Guest’ and an image of himself in front of a hoarding which reads: “Optimism is a political act.”

Fans commented to call Fox their ‘hero’ as he gives ‘an example of living life to the fullest’.

Another wrote: “Awesome! You’re amazing and such a true inspiration to all of us living with PD! Your optimism is inspiring to us all.”

Turns out, Coldplay’s frontman, Chris Martin, and his son, Moses, are massive fans of the legendary film and so has previously invited Fox to play with the band.

He joined them back in 2016 when the Brit explained Back to the Future is their ‘favourite movie of all time’.

And on Saturday, during the typically tear-jerking ‘Fix You’, they switched up the lyrics to include a bit of ‘Johnny B. Goode’ – that Chuck Berry track McFly of course plays in the film.

Iconic.
