Mike Posner has showed off his 11-year transformation in the best way possible.

The hitmaker burst onto the scene with bangers like 'Cooler Than Me' and 'Please Don't Go' back in 2010.

He's also produced and written songs for the likes of Justin Bieber, Iggy Azalea and Maroon 5, along with being one-half of hip-hop duo Mansionz.

Posner's biggest hit, however, is no doubt 'I Took a Pill in Ibiza', which was originally an acoustic record before being remixed a few months later by Norwegian production duo Seeb.

That 2015 track went to number one in the UK and in many countries across the world, but there was a dark meaning behind it.

Prior to that song, Posner hit a bit of a dry spell and started to massively doubt himself.

It was only Avicii in the music industry who continued to believe in him as he made the decision to fly to Sweden to resurrect his career.

Whilst looking up at the late producer from general admission, Posner said he felt really low.

'I was hoping somebody would recognise me'

"Avicii came and played his show. I was in the crowd and - this was when I still drank, I don’t drink anymore - I’m looking at him on the stage and I was just thinking, ‘Man, I f**ked this up man, that used to be me, I wish it was still me and it's not.'" he said on the Impaulsive podcast.

After only a few people recognised him, he was offered pill, which kept him ‘up all night.’

Posner continued: “I woke up the next day and I felt like hell. So, that song is about that darkness and that low in my life.

“The infinite irony of it is that these guys remixed this heart-breaking song and made it into a club banger.”

Taking to X on Thursday (31 July), Posner said he 'feels proud' that 'none' of the song lyrics 'are true anymore' and has shown how things have changed.

"26: I took a pill in Ibiza to show Avicii I was cool and when I finally got sober, felt 10 years older, but f**k it, it was something to do," he wrote.

"37: I love myself more than ever, no longer do s**t that harms my body to try to get people to like me."

On his spending habits, he added: "26: I'm living out in LA, I drive a sports car just to prove I'm a real big baller 'cause I made a million dollars and I spend it on girls and shoes.

"37: donated massive jordan collection, drive 4runner, don't need to prove anything to anyone other than God, love myself. If I buy myself something nice, it's because i love myself and i deserve it, not because i'm trying to prove to others i'm good enough."

Posner continued: "26: I'm just a singer who already blew his shot I get along with old timers 'cause my name's a reminder of a pop song people forgot.

"37: walked across America, climbed Everest, became inspiring to myself first, as a byproduct became inspiring to others."

At the end of his posts, he issued some words of encouragement to his fans: "I love you. If you're going through s**t right now, keep going, you have no idea how good your life may be in 10 years. in gratitude, mp."
