With just weeks to go until Sam Fender hits the road for a massive UK tour, a huge support act has pulled out, and fans are 'gutted'.

In case you missed it, the South Shields singer-songwriter is heading on tour this summer to celebrate new album People Watching, with shows in Newcastle, Manchester, and London. He will also make headline appearances at the likes of Edinburgh Summer Sessions and BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend.

But with just weeks to go until the tour kicks off, one of his biggest support acts, The War On Drugs, has pulled out due to 'personal scheduling issues'.

Amid the news, 'devastated' fans have rushed to Reddit to express their disappointment.

"I am beyond disappointed," one wrote. "I gifted the tickets to my boyfriend for his birthday because he wanted to see The War On Drugs live - we were planning to travel from Germany just for this band."

Another said, "This is serious and a bit weird. I can’t remember a band pulling out at this short notice on a massive stadium tour like this. What band would not love to be playing to 200,000 people, probably the first time a lot would have seen the band? It’s just very unprofessional."

A third added: "Struggled to get tickets from the get-go, so I'm a bit gutted for those expecting to see them. If it means a new album, it’ll mean a new tour and that will be worth the wait."

But Fender won't be alone on tour, as the likes of CMAT, Wunderhorse, Olivia Dean, and Young Jesus, will join as support acts.
