Music legend Sir Tom Jones cancelled a US performance at the last minute and was forced to reschedule two shows in his American tour following doctor’s advice, the singer announced on Monday.
Hours before he was due on stage at LA’s Greek Theatre, Sir Tom, 86, let fans know the gig would have to be rescheduled, writing on Instagram, “I’ve had a great time these last few weeks, completing 20 shows and singing for wonderful audiences across the USA, but unexpectedly I’ve been hit with a bad case of the flu.”
According to KTLA, medics told Sir Tom to also reschedule his show in San Diego.
“I’ve had news that these shows will now be rescheduled as follows – The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, San Diego, on Tuesday, November 3rd, and The Greek Theatre, Los Angeles, on Wednesday, November 4th,” he said.

The It’s Not Unusual singer was widely featured in the news recently after he claimed on Instagram in early September that ITV had ‘fired’ him as a coach on The Voice UK.

In response, ITV executives released a statement: “ITV would like to thank the irreplaceable Sir Tom Jones for all his years on The Voice UK, and the countless incredible and unforgettable moments he gave the show. He has brought joy to audiences, and to every singer who performed for him and with him.”
During the star’s six-decade career, Sir Tom has won one Grammy, two Brits and an Ivor Novello Award. Three of his singles reached UK number one and four of his albums topped the charts.
Sir Tom was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for services to music in 2006.
