Dakota Johnson's interesting comment about dating musicians as she starts Machine Gun Kelly 'romance'

Many of us have a specific type when it comes to choosing a romantic partner and it seems as if Dakota Johnson is no different.

The 37-year-old's latest flame is reported to be Machine Gun Kelly, who is still co-parenting with Megan Fox following their split last year, and it perhaps comes as no surprise given what she's previously admitted about musicians.

Johnson, who broke into the Hollywood scene after starring in the Fifty Shades of Grey film series, which included a particularly awkward sex scene with just her and an intimacy coordinator, clearly has a thing for anyone who's got a musical bone in their body.

Speaking to Vogue earlier this year, the American actress shared: “They like me. I don’t know what to say." After a moment’s pause, she added, “And I like them."

When the interviewer Alessandra Codinha responded 'what's not to like?', Johnson replied: “A lot! A lot — tricky motherf***ers."

That doesn't seem to have changed her overall opinion towards them however as she was most recently seen dating MGK, the 36-year-old rapper who had his fair share of relationship drama with fellow actress Megan Fox, including

drinking each other's blood and the Transformers star wearing a ring that caused actual pain if it was taken off. All I can say to Dakota is good luck.

Before her reported latest fling, Johnson was spotted with Tucker Harrington Pillsbury, also known as Role Model, as well as her infamous relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

Their relationship was looking like paradise for the pair after they got engaged but they quietly split up in 2025 following nearly eight years together.

Before that, she'd also spent two years with Matthew Hitt, a model and frontman of the rock band Drowners, so it's clear that she likes a man who can get a tune out of her.

Although nothing is yet confirmed about her budding relationship with MGK, the two are certainly adding fuel to the fire and have been spotted together on a number of occasions. Whatever the nature of their relationship, Johnson will have to understand that his young baby with Megan Fox, as well as his teenager Casie from another previous relationship, will come first.

Late last year, an insider told People: "He spends pretty much every night at her house with the baby, and they act like a couple, but they haven’t put a label on it or made anything official.

"Megan's very happy with how he's stepped up for both her and the baby. While they still have separate homes, they spend a lot of time together as a family.

"They're putting the baby first, and it's brought them closer in many ways."
