Snoop Dogg has responded to accusations of homophobia after previously claiming that an LGBTQ kiss in children's film Lightyear left him 'scared to go to the movies'.
The rapper came under fire last month after he revealed that he'd been unable to answer his grandson's questions about a same-sex relationship in the 2022 Toy Story spin-off.
"Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, 'Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She's a woman," the 53-year-old said in a recent episode of It's Giving podcast.
Revealing his initial reaction to the question, Snoop continued: "[I thought] 'Oh s**t, I didn't come in for this s**t. I just came to watch the goddamn movie.'"

"I’m like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of s**t that I don’t have an answer for," he continued. "These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer."

The rapper - real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr - soon faced backlash for his comments, with several people accusing him of homophobia.
Amid the fallout over his comments, celebrity gossip site Hollywood Unlocked shared an interview with TV personality TS Madison discussing the comments, prompting Snoop to clarify his position in the comments.
"I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons," he explained, going on to say he wasn't 'perfect'.

"All my gay friends no what’s up they been calling me with love," he continued. "My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6 yr old teach me how to learn I’m not perfect."
The kiss between two women in Lightyear became one of the most divisive moments in the children's film, prompting the movie to be banned in several countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

Snoop's comments also prompted Lightyear screenwriter Lauren Gunderson to reveal it was her decision to include the kiss scene.
Defending the moment in a post on Instagram, she wrote: "So I created the Lightyear lesbians."

Explaining how the moment came into existence as it felt 'natural' for the character to have a female partner.
"I was one of a few writers they had on it over the years, which is very common for screenwriting of course. I had very little to do with the final script. But I was proud to see a happy queer couple (even for a few seconds) onscreen," she continued.
"I know they got a lot of shit for this inclusion, but stuff like this matters because beautiful love like this exists."
