Following the news that Netflix has begun testing a swanky new redesign of its site on a collection of lucky customers, TV and film buffs are keen to get on board with a customised profile picture for the streaming service.

The likes of Disney Plus and NOW are also home to avid viewers, so not only does Netflix need to compete in terms of content, they also have to beat them on aesthetics, too. While it’s not clear whether or when the redesign from the streaming giant will roll out to all customers, fans can still personalise their display picture now. So, how do you get a custom profile picture for Netflix?

How to get a custom profile picture for Netflix:

First of all, to get a custom profile picture for the Netflix browser, you’ll need to have Google Chrome.

Then, you’ll have to install the extension Custom profile picture for Netflix onto Google Chrome. Once in the Google Chrome Store, click "Add to Chrome", and select "Add extension" from the popup.

If you’ve already signed into Netflix, you will be automatically redirected to the profile page tab after the extension installs (go you!). If not, don’t fear, simply sign into your account and stay on the profile page when Netflix loads on the profile page.

Now, to set-up your customised profile picture, click the Extensions icon on the top right of your Google Chrome tab. Then, click “Custom profile picture for Netflix”.

Next up, you’ve got to select the profile which you’d like to upload a custom profile picture for.

Next to the photo, you’ll see “Select image”, click that and you’ll be redirected to your computer folders.

Find the picture that you want, select your fancy new photo and click on “Open”, making sure that the image size is smaller than 5MB.

Once you’ve uploaded your swanky image, you can crop the image with the icons in the “alignment” section.

Once you’re happy with how it looks, move away from the extension page and reload the Netflix site. There, you should see your shiny new customised profile picture.

It’s worth noting that this customisation only works on the Netflix Google Chrome browser, and unfortunately won’t sync up to your TV or mobile app, for example.

Although, we’re hopeful that one day we might be able to see our customised profile pictures on all the Netflix interfaces.
