A crime series called ‘intense’ by viewers has been labelled the best Netflix binge-watch around.

The TV series is not just a great one-time watch either, with some fans reporting that they finished the series and nearly immediately went back for seconds.

Netflix’s have been on roll lately, with Squid Game season three debuting to an absolutely massive 368,400,000 hours viewed already.

This places it in the top ten all time for non-English speaking shows on Netflix in just a week. Add to that shows like The Waterfront doing well worldwide, and the streamer is full of hit TV success.

Meanwhile, fans are rediscovering an older TV show on Netflix called Animal Kingdom after it was added last month, racking up over 19,000,000 viewing hours in its first week, per Nielsens.

The show, often compared to Breaking Bad, follows a teenager Josh, played by Peaky Blinders star Finn Cole who moves in with his crime-lord grandmother after his mother dies of an overdose. Upon moving, he becomes involved in a life of crime himself through his cousins and carries out various heists.

Running for six seasons, Animal Kingdom developed a cult following. This led to a score of 8.2 on IMDb and 76% on Rotten Tomatoes as fans and critics alike raved.

Speaking in the Netflix Facebook group ‘Netflix Bangers’, one fan posted looking for a new show to binge watch, with Animal Kingdom being the most popular comment by far.

Another comment responded saying they had just finished watching and were already planning another watch.

A third said: “Watching this for the second time as we speak! Love !!!”

The show is one that is regularly recommended in the popular Facebook group, with one recent viral post saying: “I’m digging Animal Kingdom series. Must watch.”

Another post said: “Because of this page I started Animal Kingdom last night and let me tell you it doesn't disappoint!! What a great show… Thanks for the [recommendation]!”

Rotten Tomatoes verified critic Nabila Hatimy said of the series: “The show is definitely enthralling, intense and good enough to have been renewed for a second season amidst the first season.”

Robert Lloyd of the LA Times stated in his positive reaction that he was sceptical, saying: “As someone who distrusts the antiheroic attitude, and movies and TV shows in which people who are up to no good are made extra-glamorous... I take more convincing than some. But I went with this.”

One 9/10 review on IMDb praised how the show started with a slightly trashy tone before eventually deepening greatly.

They said: “It does this so gradually that you don't even realise it until realise you're watching some of the most beautifully-drawn characters on TV for a long time.

“It's a Breaking Bad-level achievement, possibly exceeding it at times. One that flew under the radar.”

Animal Kingdom is available to watch on Netflix now.
