Stunned Netflix viewers say it is a 'crime' director made Glenn Close deliver unexpected line in new horror

Fans said it's 'so unserious' as they couldn't believe the scene is real

Netflix has added some absolute whopper shows and films recently.

From a popular British comedy with Martin Freeman to an ‘unbelievable’ new show with Jeff Goldblum, another of its latest additions stars the iconic Glenn Close.

Landing on Netflix last Friday (30 August), the ‘11/10’ horror is loosely based on a true story and has been sitting in the 'Top 10' films list in the UK.

And while fans are absolutely lapping it up, stunned viewers have been saying it’s a ‘crime’ that the director made Close deliver an unexpected line.

The Deliverance was directed by Lee Daniels and also features Andra Day and Caleb McLaughlin.

It follows a struggling mother fighting her personal demons when ‘strange occurrences inside the home raise the suspicions of Child Protective Services and threaten to tear the family apart’.

She then finds herself stuck in a fight for her life and her children’s souls.

The horror film takes inspiration from the real life experiences of a woman who claimed in a 2014 Indianapolis Star article, called The Exorcisms of Latoya Ammons, that she and her kids were being terrorised by ‘shadowy figures’.

Close plays grandma Alberta and her performance has been wowing viewers as fans on X say she ‘gave an Oscar worthy performance to remember for a lifetime’.

However, there’s one particular scene or rather, one particular line, that’s shocked many The Deliverance fans.

One wrote: “Lee Daniel’s you will pay for your crimes for having Glenn Close say this.” And to be fair, hearing it without seeing the film may be even more disturbing.

As her character lays possessed in a hospital bed the legendary star sniffs around and then says: “I can smell your nappy p***y.”

Yep, the 77-year-old three-time Golden Globe winner really says that.

Another wrote: “Who wrote this line, they need to be examined!? My goodness, omg,” as someone else said: “I would’ve broken character so quick. That’s why I ain’t in Hollywood.”

While some actually found the bizarre line gave them the encouragement to stream the film as they wrote: “Say less I’m watching this tonight.”

“I screamed when she said that,” one viewer commented.

As another was left in disbelief: “I COULDN’T’ BREATHE CAUSE WHY WOULD THEY MAKE HER SAY THAT.”

A fan noted while they found the film pretty decent, ‘this part is just so unserious’.
