Punch statistics in Jake Paul v Mike Tyson show insane reality of what happened in the ring

Fans think that the punch statistics speak for themselves after Paul won by unanimous decision

Jake Paul came out victorious in his heavyweight bout with Mike Tyson, winning by unanimous decision after eight rounds of boxing.

The 27-year-old has now improved his professional boxing record to 12-1, while Tyson's record sunk slightly to 50-7-2 after the Netflix fight.

Following Paul's win after eight, two minute rounds, where Tyson actually started more promising and was unofficially given the first two rounds, fans made the same observation about the match-up - Tyson did incredibly well considering the fighters having a 31-year age gap.

Iron Mike also commented on the constant chewing of his gloves throughout the fight, as many new boxing fans were introduced to this habit, while older boxing fans will recall his biting antics back in 1997, when he bit Evander Holyfield's ear off in the ring.

After Tyson's surprising start, Paul grew into the fight as the younger boxer, working on his opponent without seemingly going for the knockout blow that fans thirsted for.

In the end, Paul managed to land a respectable 78 punches on Tyson from 278 thrown (28 percent), while Tyson could only manage 18 landed punches, throwing 97 (18 percent).

The latter did well to evade many of the 27-year-old's attempts, though it wasn't enough in the end, as he struggled to find his rhythm after the first couple of rounds.

Fans took to social media to further explain this point, as one user said: "While Tyson held a strong defence, Paul's aggression and pressure won him the victory in this fight to remember."

Another added: "6-2 Paul. Hell of an effort for Tyson, really gave it his all. Paul beat up a 58 year old man… good job I guess?"

A third wrote about Tyson: "Have to give it to him for trying. I predicted a 1st round of Tyson knocking out Jake or Tyson losing.

"It's for a reason world class athletes retire young. Body can't handle the punishment anymore. I never liked Paul, but how he showed respect to Tyson gets him my respect."

Earlier tonight, some fans had endured streaming problems while trying to get the fight up, while millions at home were treated, or jump-scared, to Tyson's bare a** in his locker room following a pre-fight interview.
