With Wednesday season two just around the corner, Netflix have confirmed that the show will be coming back for a third season.
The move is a vote of confidence by Netflix in the Jenna Ortega backed series that is not set to debut its second season for another two weeks.
This should come as no surprise however, as season one of the Wednesday Addams reimagining was Netflix’s most successful single season of English-speaking TV ever, racking up over 1.7 billion hours viewed.

Whilst this placed it just second overall behind Squid Game, one major player of the show’s first season will not be returning.
Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier Thorpe, announced he would not be returning for season two of the TV show.

This was confirmed via his response to a Netflix cast list for season two of which he was auspiciously absent, posting on Instagram to say: “I had so much fun working on this show. I can't wait to watch season two. Much love.”
The reason for the actor’s departure from the show has not been confirmed with it leaving a reasonably sized hole in the plot due to Xavier’s importance, however came after Hynes White found himself embroiled in controversy.

Hynes White was accused of sexual assault via X, with an anonymous victim posting claims that he threw parties where he assaulted underaged girls after giving them drugs and alcohol.
The actor strongly denied these claims in an Instagram story post, saying: “Earlier this year, somebody I’ve never met started a campaign of misinformation against me online.
“The rumours are false. I can’t accept the portrayal of me as someone bigoted, or criminally negligent of people’s safety.
“These are the kind of baseless, harmful claims that can create mistrust toward victims.”
Ahead of the release of season two of Wednesday Jenna Ortega was interviewed where she addressed his departure.

Speaking to Vanity Fair the actor, who is now an Executive Producer for season two, said that it was a ‘weird redirect’.
She went on to add however that the second season is ‘introducing so many different characters that I think it kind of will get lost.’
Ortega stated in addition to this that the world of Wednesday does feel ‘askew’.
In a new interview with Ortega and Tim Burton it was confirmed that, as well as a third season of Wednesday a spin off show was being discussed.

The pair also seemed shocked at reports of an upcoming Beetlejuice 3, with Burton saying: “Really? Nobody told me. Maybe I’ve been replaced.”
Ortega said: “Maybe I’ve been, too. Maybe [her character] Astrid dies and goes to heaven instead [of the films’ Netherworld]. They should just take Baby Beetlejuice on tour and send him to Hawaii.”
Wednesday season two: Part one releases on August 6.
