Jonah Hill's co-star claims he did a CGI on-screen kiss in Netflix movie

Jonah Hill's co-star claims he did a CGI on-screen kiss in Netflix movie

The comedy landed on Netflix in January

One of the cast members in a Jonah Hill Netflix movie has revealed a surprising revelation about the flick's production.

The movie was released on Netflix earlier this year, and sees Hill playing Ezra Cohen alongside Lauren London as Amira Mohammed.

The claim left fans shocked.

The pair embark on a romance together before Cohen proposes, only for their parents to meet and all hell to break loose.

Spoilers ahead, by the way.

You People touches on the challenges facing interracial and inter-religious couples as it follows the romance between Cohen, a secular Jew, and Mohammed, who is part of the Nation of Islam.

Check out the trailer below:

Eventually, despite the many challenges, the pair do eventually tie the knot.

Then, of course, they head in for the obligatory kiss.

But according to Andrew Schulz, who plays the cousin of Hill's character, the two actors didn't actually kiss on set.

Schulz said: “I don’t even know if I should share this s**t, but in the final scene, they don’t even kiss.

It does look a little, odd?

“It’s CGI. Swear to god, son.”

He went on to describe filming the scene in question, saying: "I’m there, I’m watching the wedding, and I see them go in for the kiss and their faces stop like this far.

"And I’m like, ‘I wonder how they’re going to play that in the movie. Oh, they’re probably just going to cut right there'.

"But in the movie, you could see their faces come close, and then you can see their faces morph a little bit into a fake kiss."

But there's no mistaking it, in the movie the two actors definitely do actually lock lips.

So what happened?

I mean, taking a closer look at the moment itself there's no denying that the screen does look a little, odd?

And it seems people agreed with the assessment, with one viewer writing on X: "Yeah, i caught it when i slowed it down."

While another put: "I said this while i was watching i’m like yo they haven’t kissed the whole movie lol."

If that is what happened, it wouldn't be the first time CGI has been used to fill in the gaps.

The production of Ridley Scott's Gladiator infamously ran into a problem when co-star Oliver Reed died of a heart attack during a drinking competition with a group of sailors on shore leave.

Reed's remaining scenes had to be filmed using a combination of a body double and CGI.

LADbible contacted Netflix for comment at the time.
