Netflix viewers have found a plane horror film that some are saying is a ‘10/10’ watch, and fans are even comparing it to Ryan Coogler’s Sinners.

The Coogler flick, which was recently released on digital worldwide, received across the board praise, with many calling it the film of the year so far.

For a Netflix original film to be compared to a movie of the quality of the Michael B Jordan-led Sinners is an impressive feat, but you can see where viewers made the connection.

Unlike Sinners the Netflix movie is set in the modern day, however, it shares one common thread.

What is the Netflix film and what is the link to Sinners?

The film, called Blood Red Sky, features a transatlantic flight hijacked by international terrorists.

Peri Baumeister stars as Nadja, a young mother who is trying to protect her son and hide her mysterious illness amid the ensuing chaos.

Among the hijackers is Prison Break star Dominic Purcell, and the film was written and directed by Peter Thorwarth.

Blood Red Sky features a shocking twist - and one that makes the link to Sinners clear.

Warning: Minor spoilers ahead for Blood Red Sky

As is revealed in the trailers for the movie, the mother in question is secretly a vampire, something she must utilise to protect her son.

How did fans react to Blood Red Sky?

One fan took to the Facebook group Netflix Bangers recently to recommend the film, with a fan in the comments making the connection to Sinners.

The original post posted a picture of the film, simply saying: “10/10. All packed action… you should try it!”

The film was met with mixed reviews on release, averaging a score of just 6.1 on IMDb but also receiving a far more impressive Rotten Tomatoes score of 81 percent.

Giving Blood Red Sky a 7/10 review, one viewer said on IMDb: “I did not have much knowledge about this film so I was going in blind and I was shocked how this film took a huge twist.

“I think it paid off worked well. One of the better Netflix films.”

The movie was watched for 50 million hours in the first four weeks after it dropped, making it the most successful German Netflix original film at the time of release.

Meagan Navarro, writing for horror experts Bloody Disgusting, said in their four-star review: “It's the type of plot that screams action-horror spectacle, yet this high-altitude thriller defies expectations from the start.

“A beating heart of familial love pumps through the veins of this intense horror-thriller with a vicious take on vampire lore.”

Blood Red Sky is available to watch on Netflix now.
