It’s pretty easy to be so overwhelmed by the choices on Netflix that you end up determining there’s ‘nothing to watch’.
But if you’re a crime drama fan, your fellow users are helping you out as they urge you to watch a new one that is the best ‘since Line of Duty’.
The latest British thriller on the platform is currently one of the top shows on Netflix in the UK with fans already begging for a second season.
Starring Matthew Goode, Dept. Q follows his character DCI Carl Morck as he is assigned to a cold case ‘that will consume his life’. Released on Netflix at the end of May, the series was created by Scott Frank – the guy also responsible for The Queen’s Gambit.
Based on a Danish book series, there’s an underlying mystery throughout the show as Morck is wracked with guilt after a previous attack left his partner paralysed and another cop dead.
But as head of a new police department, he’s got to lead ‘an unlikely team of misfits’ in solving the cold cases in Edinburgh.
And the general consensus so far is that people are absolutely loving it.
Dept. Q currently boasts 85 percent on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer with 93 percent from viewers.
On one Reddit threat, a viewer said: “This is the best crime drama I’ve watched since Line of Duty.”
Let’s be honest, anyone who’s watched the legendary BBC series knows that’s high praise indeed.
The new Netflix series is an absolute hit (Netflix) It’s also earned a decent 8.3 out of 10 on IMBD and users on our Netflix Bangers group are calling it a ‘must watch show’.
Rotten Tomatoes users are agreeing it’s the ‘best series of the year so far’ with plenty saying it ‘kept them guessing’ until the end.
Some did find it ‘hard to follow’ however, with others put off by the ‘gruesome bloody details of the murders’.
But a huge amount of viewers all say they wish there was a ‘season two now’.
Well, fingers crossed for season two (Netflix) Well, if fans are hoping for a season two, Frank told LADbible what’s needed to make that a reality.
“I just think people have to watch it in significant enough numbers that it's worth it to do another season, even for me,” he said.
"I mean, I would love to do another season, but if people you know don't watch it, then I can take the hint. If [viewers] do watch it in significant numbers, then it would be fun to do the next book, which I already have in my brain how I'd like to do that."
Dept. Q is available to watch on Netflix now.
