A new film has dropped today and according to people who’ve seen the trailer, it’s one you absolutely need to watch.

Netflix just keep giving and we’re going to take all we can get from this film, which is giving Die Hard vibes, in the best way possible.

There’s nothing better than cosying on up with a blanket and hot choccy and watching an action thriller engross your very being.

It’s got it all, and you’ll be happy to know that it’s pegged as a Christmas movie.

Yes, exactly like Die Hard.

This one sees Taron Egerton play a security agent called Ethan Kopek get blackmailed by a random traveller (Jason Bateman) and communicated to him through an earpiece.

Then, he manipulates him into taking hazardous goods through airport security via a flight on Christmas Eve, which could mean terrible consequences for the passengers on board.

In the end, it’s a cat and mouse game between the two with high stakes and the risk of killing hundreds if it all falls through.

Sofia Carson also plays Ethan's girlfriend.

The film also features Danielle Deadwyler whose role is Elena Cole, tracking Bateman's character and adding another layer to the plot.

Fans on Reddit who have been counting down the moment Carry-On drops have explained exactly what it is that’s drawn them in.

On person said: "I love all Phone Booth-type movies. Non-stop, The Commuter, Die Hard 3. Give me any movie of someone being anonymously blackmailed and they have to survive the situation."

Another added: "So agree! I love all JB. He's a hard worker, but I really love his evil. Reminiscent of Gene Hackman to me."

Someone else wrote: "This could be a treat. Evil Bateman is the best Bateman."

A fourth person commented: "Looks very interesting. Good timing too, with many people flying for the holidays. I'll be watching it as soon as it is released."

It’s going to be fantastic.

Jaume Collet-Serra, the director spoke to the BBC that he’s been inspired by Bruce Willis’s Die Hard movie, saying: "Everyone wants to make the next Die Hard and the reality is that no one ever will - it's a perfect movie that can't be replicated, and also a very specific product of its time.

“But when I read the script for Carry-On, I felt like I had found a more grounded version of Die Hard - which was our North Star for the entire process - for a new generation."

Written by T.J Fixman, Carry-On was supposed to be the first movie to come from a 2021 deal stricken between Steven Spielberg's Amblin Partners and Netflix, which would see the partnership create several exclusive flicks.

For those of you who doubt the validity of Die Hard being a true Christmas classic, speaking during an interview at the American Film Institute, John McTiernan, the director of the film gave his final verdict.

He said: "We hadn't intended it to be a Christmas movie, but the joy that came from it is what turned it into a Christmas movie.”

That’s good enough for me.
