Netflix is losing some of the best titles on its platform in huge purge tomorrow

Some classic films and TV series will no longer be available on Netflix

It's pretty common for Netflix to update its library of TV series and films, making way for new ones to land and getting rid of some of those that aren't watched much or have fallen out of favour.

However the latest Netflix 'purge' from the streaming platform sees it removing quite a bit more than usual, including some iconic film titles viewers will definitely miss.

And the bad news is they're going tomorrow (June 15th), so you better get watching fast if you want to see them one last time.

Earlier in June there was a huge shakeup as films like The Hangover, Bronson, The Many Saints of Newark and S.W.A.T. were taken down.

Tom Hanks movie Captain Philips and Oscar winning The Big Short have also already made their Netflix exits.

But there's more hurt to come, with the following films and TV shows leaving Netflix tomorrow, which includes another Oscar winner:

  • Aliens in the Attic (2009)
  • Beyond Evil (2021)
  • Black Spot (2 Seasons) N
  • The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2008)
  • Ella Enchanted (2004)
  • Get Out (2017)
  • Gone Baby Gone (2007)
  • Good Will Hunting (1997)

  • Home2Home (2020)
  • The Legend of White Snake (2019)
  • Pulp Fiction (1994)
  • Somewhere Only We Know (1 Season)
  • What Happens in Vegas (2008)
  • When My Love Blooms (2020)

Also planned for removal from the library are all ten seasons of Danger Mouse, Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson movie Marry Me and sports drama American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story. All of these will exit Netflix on 16 June.

Gone Girl and The Revenant will come off the platform on 1 July, and next month sees The Holiday and Good Burger removed too.

The removals for Netflix come as the streaming platform will also stop working on as many as 42 models of TV.

This is because some models by technology brand Sony, as a number of its Bravia-branded TVs are about to lose the ability to stream Netflix through the in-TV app, for a reason branded as 'technical limitations' by the company.

All of these television sets were released in 2014, and now a decade later it's time for a change.

Sony states on its website: “Netflix announced that on July 24, 2024, the Netflix app will no longer be supported on some 2014 Sony Bravia LCD TVs due to technical limitations.

“You can continue to use the Netflix app on your TV until July 23, 2024. After this date, it will be removed from the Apps menu."

There are solutions to the issue that mean you can still access Netflix and watch your favourites, including buying an Amazon Fire TV stick, or something similar.

This essentially plugs into an HDMI port of your TV, connecting to Wi-Fi and allowing you to stream any app your heart desires including Netflix as well as Amazon Prime, Disney+ and BBC iPlayer.
