Netflix fans are getting a second season of '10/10' series watched for 51 million hours in a week

The Netflix series features an absolutely massive plot twist

As part of a raft of renewals of some of their hit shows, Netflix confirmed that one of their newest beloved series would be coming back for season two.

The streamer may be more well known for cancelling series than renewing them, but this changed, with seven different shows being renewed.

In unsurprising news Bridgerton was one of the TV shows to get a renewal, with the regency era romance series coming back for a fifth and sixth season.

This, however, is not the most surprising, with two different seasons of Bridgerton in Netflix’s all time most watched list and the other two sure to be not far behind.

What may come as a surprise to fans however is that Four Seasons has been confirmed to be coming back for a season two.

Though it was watched 51 million hours in its first week, marking the most watched series worldwide on Netflix, this may still be unexpected from fans.

The show, co-created by Tina Fey based on a 1981 Alan Alda movie, starred Fey alongside an all-star cast including Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, and Will Forte, as well as Kerri Kenney-Silver, Marco Calvani, and Erika Henningsen.

The series follows a group of six lifelong friends getting together for a holiday. Steve Carell’s character Nick reveals he wants to divorce his wife Anne, played by Kenney-Silver, and it throws the entire friendship group into disarray.

Following the 50-somethings throughout the four seasons of the year that follows, the series has been incredibly well met by fans and critics alike.

The series sits at a 7.3 on IMDb, as well as a 78% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Eric Deggans said in his review for NPR: “A series that is both a touching tribute and knowing update -- a meditation on the value of grown-up relationships that is a wonderful antidote to the isolated age we live in.”

Fans online had similar thoughts, with one tweeting: “The Four Seasons on Netflix is exactly how you should do a remake.

“Took the story, made it more relevant to this current era and ensured it could be enjoyable for viewers who have no idea about the original. Also, made sure Colman Domingo was in it.”

Another simply said: “Just watched Four Seasons on Netflix—loved it! 10/10.”

Why would fans be surprised by a season two of Four Seasons and what can we expect?

Whether you find it surprising or not really depends on who you ask.

Whilst the show has been a huge hit, the cast are all pretty high profile names, so tying them down to all be able to film at the same time again would be difficult.

The story told in the show undeniably leaves the door ajar at the end of the second season, but would be a very different series for one reason.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR FOUR SEASONS ON NETLIX.

Carell’s Nick dies in the show’s penultimate episode, with the final episode of the season being the various friends coming together for his funeral.

Whilst Nick did leave his wife for Ginny, a younger woman who he dates, you likely wouldn’t have expected her to stay around for season two.

That is, of course, if the show hadn’t ended with the reveal that she had fallen pregnant with Nick’s child – something which is sure to be a central plot point in a Carell-less season two.
