Netflix fans confused as two of its biggest titles are removed for good

Subscribers have been left devastated after finding out they have to say goodbye to the unique shows

They say they only take the good ones - and that expression apparently applies to Netflix series, according to viewers.

Subscribers have been left gutted after it was revealed that two of the streaming platform's biggest titles are about to be cancelled —and these shows with a worryingly close expiry date aren't just your average series, either.

This dynamic duo is actually among several landmark productions that put the power into viewers' hands, as those tuning in were able to determine the plot and the outcome of the programme.

These interactive shows quickly became the rage after Netflix dropped its first one in 2018, the iconic Black Mirror: Bandersnatch.

Following the success of this, a number of other immersive titles were released, including Bear Grylls' You vs. Wild and Ranveer vs. Wild with Bear Grylls, as well as Cat Burglar, Escape the Undertaker, and Carmen Sandiego.

But these have already been removed from Netflix, and in its latest cull, the streaming platform is set to remove the two remaining interactive specials.

So very soon, we will have to bid goodbye to Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and fan favourite Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend.

According to What's On Netflix, both of these will be removed from Netflix in just a matter of days. They will become unavailable for subscribers next Monday (12 May).

The publication reckons that it's all to do with the streamer's plans to promote its mobile gaming feature. Apparently, the software updates won't be able to support the multiple-choice element, which is the crux of the interactive shows.

Netflix fans will be able to recall how Black Mirror: Bandersnatch allows viewers to choose the outcome in the chilling show, which centres around a games designer who descends into madness.

The choices you make while tuning into the show, which stars Will Poulter and Asim Chaudhry, also impact the run time, so some people finished in 40 minutes, while others took up to two hours.

It's also pretty fun to know that if you rewatched Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and made different selections, you'd watch a different story.

And let's not forget Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend, which follows the same principle, although it's a lot more light-hearted.

In the special 2020 episode of the series, the interactive technology again allows the audience to navigate their adventure.

It follows Ellie Kemper's character, Kimmy Schmidt, as she is set to marry Prince Fredrick...but she's just got to disrupt Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne's evil plot first.

The interactive episode was also extra special for fans, as it served as a conclusion for the show.

This move will mean that viewers won't be able to stream Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend in their original form ever again.

And as you can imagine, people aren't pleased with this news, as one subscriber took to X to moan: "They're removing Black Mirror: Bandersnatch...Netflix, first you stole Glow's final season from me, and you've refused to let me have anything good ever since."

Another wrote: "This is why I like physical media. Netflix just dropped the amazing 7th season of Black Mirror, but now they're getting rid of Bandersnatch. I'm upset."

A third said: "So not only does Netflix start running ads, but they can't even keep their original content up on their site now?"

Meanwhile, others took to Reddit to air their grievances, as one wrote: "From a preservation standpoint, this sucks. Neither show is available on physical media and it's going to be really hard to find a 'complete' version of these specials, given their interactive nature."

A second said: "A non-interactive version of it would be better than nothing at all, but the interactivity of the movie was such a core part of it that it will lose something without it."

"I'm going to be really sad not being able to watch the Kimmy special next time I finish the whole series," someone else added.
