Netflix viewers 'wasted nearly 2 hours' watching a dark thriller that is surging up the Netflix Top 10 chart.

January is universally the worst month of the year and many will be taking to Netflix to cheer themselves up.

From the crap weather to going back to work, the first 31 days of the year are tough.

Although, putting on this film to help with the January blues might not necessarily be the solution you need.

Currently at number six on Netlfix's Top 10 chart is The Lodge, and many viewers are seriously regretting watching it.

Despite a star-studded cast of Daisy Jones & The Six’s Riley Keough, Fool Me Once’s Richard Armitage and It star Jaeden Martell, people don't seem to be rating the 2019 film.

Dubbed as 'one of the scariest movies of the past decade', The Lodge follows the story of Grace (Keough), who consistently tries to bond with her soon-to-be step-children - only to face disastrous consequences.

As Grace is pushed ever-closer towards a nervous breakdown, strange things begin to occur.

Taking to X (Twitter), some people simply called it 'a load of rubbish'.

One viewer tweeted: "If anyone is thinking of watching The Lodge on Netflix, I wouldn’t bother. Just wasted nearly 2 hours of my life."

"The Lodge is one of the most boring films I've watched on @netflix so far," a second added.

"If a movie has these reviews I should know it’s bound to be s**t. The Lodge on Netflix. Two hours of my life I’ll never get back. Sh**e," another agreed.

"Don't bother watching The Lodge on Netflix it's a load of rubbish I thought it would be good when it number 3 in this week's films," someone else said.

However, with a respectable score of 6.0 on IMDb and 75 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, it just shows that not everyone found the film totally off-putting.

One person tweeted: "That movie The Lodge on Netflix was spooky as hell lol."

Another added: "Netflix should make a spin-off show about The Lodge !"

Someone else said: "The Lodge was so good,,, beautiful and scary :)"

"Finally saw a horror movie that’s actually scary!! The Lodge is 10/10!!" agreed a fourth.

The official synopsis for The Lodge is as follows: “A soon-to-be stepmom is snowed in with her fiancé's two children at a remote holiday village.

“Just as relations begin to thaw between the trio, some strange and frightening events take place.”

The Lodge is available to watch on Netflix now.
