There has been an amazing amount of films dropping this year, but there is only one which has amassed a large amount of conspiracy theories.

This Netflix flick landed on the platform on 8 December and depicts a family navigating societal collapse during the beginning stages of the apocalypse.

If you haven't watched it yet, spoilers ahead.

Leave the World Behind has gathered mixed reviews due to its premise which alludes to the fact that society is too reliant on technology.

Well, it’s not wrong.

But while people have been having a ‘scary realisation’ while watching, others have been stumbling upon this crazy hidden link.

The thriller starring Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke is described as: “A family’s vacation is upended when two strangers arrive at night, seeking refuge from a cyberattack that grows more terrifying by the minute, forcing everyone to come to terms with their places in a collapsing world.”

Fans have noticed some weird things about the movie.

Though there have been instances of fans pointing out plot holes, and also being confused about the obsession with the show Friends, it appears that this new finding has freaked out fans more than before.

One fan wrote under a TikTok video talking about the hidden message behind the film: “Movie is scary with how it matches real time. People say the ending is us, seeking comfort in TV and entertainment while the world crumbles.”

Another user added: “Keep us distracted by entertainment etc, then when you take away what distracts us from really understanding situations and ppl around us the world would more than likely crumble. And we wouldn’t know how to survive without the distractions they’ve given us.

“Something crazy happens in the world we’re all talking about it one minute then the next we move on.”

However, it was the latest finding that has got fans riled up with the possibility of an actual apocalypse and hidden message for the elites.

This is the newest theory on TikTok after one user discovered a hidden QR code in the Leave the World Behind map.

But what happens if you scan it?

It takes you to a pretty weird page.

As one person commented; "it's a link to Lake Shawnee Abandoned Amusement Park. Like WTF?!?"

This then started an interesting discussion about whether the code was an intentional warning.

So, what’s inside of the Lake Shawnee Abandoned Amusement Park?

According to one person: “QR routes to Mercer County which is just south of Greenbeir County which host a large historic bunker.”

The woman believes the hidden QR code has a secret message.

Responding to this revelation, someone suggested: “Maybe that’s the survivors meet up spot?”

Another pondered: “Conspiracy incoming: maybe the QR code is showing where the best place to go would be in this type of event”.

Another person wants to know whether the film is actually weaponised against its viewers: “Not to be a conspiracy theorist but do ya think the frequency in that movie is actually a weaponized frequency and y’all just watched it”.

Will we ever find out?
