A bloke and his daughter were lost for words after they spotted a cheeky message written across their McDonald’s receipt.

Vinny Timmins and daughter Emily used the drive-thru at their local branch of McDonald’s in Liverpool to grab a bite to eat on the go.

But after placing their order, staff told the father and daughter to come inside to collect their food because the restaurant was so busy.

Approaching the counter, Emily said she was ‘sheepishly’ asked by the member of staff if they wanted their receipt - and she soon found out why.

Emily told the Liverpool Echo: "They normally write your registration number on your receipt so they know which car to go to."

Except in this case, when Emily and Vinny looked at the receipt there was no reg number in sight. Instead the staff had used a more creative way to make sure the correct customer was identified.

Vinny Timmins and daughter Emily were left speechless after seeing the receipt.

Staff wrote across the top of the receipt: “Silver (bald).” Ouch.

Thankfully, baldy… sorry Vinny saw the funny side of the situation.

"My dad looked at the receipt and laughed,” she said.

“Then he looked up and said, 'You cheeky bugger.'

"And the man just said, 'They don't make my life easy, do they?'"

That’s one way of putting it.

After leaving the fast-food outlet with their scran, Emily said her dad ‘couldn’t stop laughing’ about it.

"I was crying laughing and he couldn't stop laughing either,” she said.

Following the incident, which happened back in 2019, Emily decided to post it online where it attracted plenty of attention racking up hundred of likes and comments.

In fact, the post was so popular that Vinny was even spotted by someone who had saw the post when he was at a football match a few days later.

The staff member found an unusual way to identify the customer.

While Vinny and Emily managed to get a chuckle out of the worker’s tongue-in-cheek message, a mum in New Zealand was recently left furious after spotting what a cafe worker had written on her receipt.

Kimberly Sze had visited a coffee shop in Christchurch for breakfast with her family, and when they were done duly asked for the bill.

However, instead of her table number being present on her receipt, a member of staff had described Ms Sze’s brood as 'fam w the terrifying kid'.

The angry mum took to social media where she blasted: “Writing ‘Family with the terrifying kid’ on our ticket and intentionally overcharging us... nice one.

“We come almost every weekend and my daughter is nothing but polite and friendly and we've never left a mess.

"She's never been a terror, never had a meltdown, never caused any problems and the same people working today always comment on how cute and sweet she is, so what the actual F?”

The cafe went on to apologise on Facebook, writing: "We made a mistake over the weekend and offended a customer. We are incredibly sorry and wish to apologise publicly."
