New Avatar: The Way of Water trailer teases epic battle between the Na'vi and humans

It also features some breathtaking visuals of Pandora.

A new trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water has been released and it showcases one hell of a battle going down.

Very little is known about James Cameron's highly-anticipated sequel.

There hasn't been much released about the plot, except for the fact that it's set more than a decade after the events in the original film.

All we've been given is this: "[Former human] Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) lives with his newfound family formed on the planet of Pandora.

"Once a familiar threat returns to finish what was previously started, Jake must work with Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) and the army of the Na'vi race to protect their planet."

This trailer finally gives us an insight into what we can expect when the movie gets released next month.

We can see Jake Scully and his family approaching a water-based tribe looking for refuge.

The family now consists of Neteyam (Jamie Flatters), Lo’ak (Britain Dalton), Tuktirey (Trinity Bliss) and Kiri (Sigourney Weaver, who is coming back to the franchise but with a new role).

It's clear these people take them in and teach them...the way of water.

However, the humans who were pillaging natural resources in the first film appear to be back with vengeance.

Towards the end of the trailer you get to see the Na'iv people battling the humans in their droids and massive machines.

Avatar: The Way of Water will be released in December 16.
