He is now in intensive care.

Saving Private Ryan star Tom Sizemore is fighting for his life in hospital after suffering a massive brain aneurysm before collapsing in his Los Angeles home.

His manager Charles Lago told TMZ that disaster struck at about 2am on Saturday.

Thankfully, someone found the 61-year-old actor passed out and called 911.

He was rushed to hospital for critical, life-saving treatment. He remains in a critical condition in intensive care, TMZ reports.

His manager says the Hollywood star is in a 'bad way'.

He added that his chances of a full recovery seem unlikely.

"He is currently in critical condition and it’s a wait and see situation," Lago told Page Six.

"His family is aware and waiting for medical updates."

Sizemore played Sergeant Horvath in the 1998 film Saving Private Ryan.

The iconic World War II film went on to win five Academy Awards.

He went on to star in another war movie, Black Hawk Down, in 2001.

He has a string of other acting credits under his belt, including Born on the Fourth of July, Natural Born Killers, and Heat.

Sizemore has struggled with drug abuse and had several run-ins with the law in recent years, with a rap sheet including driving under the influence charges and drug counts.

He was sentenced to six months in jail after being found guilty on charges of domestic assault in 2003.

Ex-girlfriend Heidi Fleiss, also known as the infamous Hollywood Madam, told an LA court he had beaten her multiple times, which led to him serving jail time and a court-ordered drug treatment program.

But he was hopeful that his life and career were taking a turn for the better, telling Age of the Nerd in a recent interview that he was optimistic for what the future may hold for him.

"I believe that I have a second act coming and that I need to start doing more dramatic roles and stay away from the bad guy, military, and cop roles," he said, while on the press circuit to promote his new film Impuratus.

He is also set to appear in Netflix's Cobra Kai, with iMDB revealing he would appear in the first episode of the show's sixth season.

Well, fingers crossed that the bright future he was dreaming of actually does come true for him.
