Footage has emerged of Snoop Dogg smoking a 'joint' before going on to perform at the Super Bowl LVI half-time show. Watch it below:

The rapper was part of the musical entertainment during the intermission of the US sporting spectacle yesterday (13 February).

He took to the stage alongside some of the biggest names in the game, including Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Kendrick Lamar during the event at the SoFi Stadium, where the Cincinnati Bengals went up against the LA Rams.

But it appears that the 50-year-old, who is a well-known advocate of marijuana, decided to have a little pre-game smoke to take the edge off.

In footage shared on social media, Snoop can be seen smoking what appears to be a spliff as he waits to head out.

Sharing the clip to his Twitter account, broadcaster Rafa El Alcalde wrote: "Warming up before going on stage for the Halftime Show."

It should be noted that marijuana is legal for both medicinal and recreational use in California, where the final was played.

Since the video was shared, it has been liked more than 148,000 times, with hundreds piling into the comments.

Twitter

Praising Snoop, one user said: "Snoop has a free pass to smoke weed anywhere in the world. Literally anywhere."

Another chimed in: "Snoop was like let hit this blunt real quick."

"Snoop is unbeatable lol," put a third.

While another added: "Exactly the same way I warm up for work, fair play."

But it doesn't seem to have affected his performance, with people calling it the best half-time show ever.

The short medley performance saw Dre joined by Snoop and a host of other legends, including Mary J. Blige and even 50 Cent, who quite literally dropped in from the ceiling unannounced to perform ‘In Da Club’.

As well as that, we saw Eminem perform ‘Lose Yourself’, Snoop and Dre perform ‘The Next Episode’, Dre pay tribute to Tupac with ‘California Love’, and Kendrick Lamar take to the stage with ‘Alright’.

Honestly, it left many people out of breath, saying that it’s the finest performance they’ve ever seen in the middle of the NFL’s showpiece final.

One person tweeted: "Best halftime show ever, it’s over."

Another said: "This halftime show is like when you put on your throwback playlist. Best halftime show in years."

A third said: "THIS IS THE BEST HALFTIME SHOW EVER HOLY S***"

The show was particularly poignant because it also represents a home-town show for Dr Dre, as well as Snoop Dogg and Kendrick, who are all natives of Southern California, where the SoFi Stadium is located.

During the performance, Eminem also took the knee in an apparent nod to former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

The game saw LA Rams claim the victory 23-20.
