Netflix subscribers are no stranger to Stephen King, with the iconic horror writer having a flurry of films on the streaming platform. But it seems one is quickly climbing the ranks to be among the most-watched movies on Netflix. Watch the trailer below:

While there's plenty on Netflix to quench your horror/thriller thirst, King seems to be the reigning champ.

And it's easy to see why, with the success of recent adaptations of his work like Gerald's Game, In The Tall Grass, and 1922 you could easily spend a day wrapped up in some pretty unsettling stories.

One slightly older film adaptation, however, is emerging as a firm favourite among fans and is quickly becoming one of the most-watched films on Netflix.

So, which of King's stories has captured audiences' attention? None other than the classic haunted hotel room that is 1408.

Currently ranked at No. 2 in Netflix UK's film chart, the 2007 thriller follows writer and all-around skeptic Mike (John Cusack) as he is 'determined to demystify the ghostly events in room 1408 of the Dolphin Hotel.'

And it certainly isn't a spoiler to say that doesn't go to plan.

But, if you haven't seen the film yet, it's well worth a watch — with Samuel L. Jackson and Mary McCormack starring alongside John Cusack.

People are already sharing their love for the film on Twitter.

A third chimed in saying: "No WAY have netflix added 1408 oh my LIFE 10/10 well done fantastic choice."

While it's easy to see how popular the film is among viewers, you may not know that it was based on a true story.

In case you weren't already creeped out enough by the film, according to IMDb, the story was, in part, inspired by the real-life of parapsychologist Christopher Chacon, who went to haunted hotels across the US in an attempt to demystify them.

He even went to the Hotel del Coronado in California.

Built in 1888, the hotel has a notorious haunted history, with Chacon's research on the site finding that 'a significant percentage of anomalous (paranormal) phenomena were documented that could not be scientifically explained'.

1408 is available to stream on Netflix now.
