Steve-O shares first ever 'stunt' he performed for Jackass that he 'wouldn't get away with now'

Steve-O has shared a full-length clip of the first 'stunt' he ever did for Jackass that made him a star.

You may be familiar with Steve-O's infamous goldfish trick, but if this is your first watch, then be warned that this definitely isn't for the faint of heart:

The gag-worthy stunt first aired on Jackass The Series, and was a trick that Steve says he had been saving for a special occasion.

As soon as he completed it, there was no doubt that this Jackass star was going to become a household name.

The stunt involved the then-26-year-old scooping a live-goldfish up in a glass of water and swallowing it whole.

In the background, you can see that even Johnny Knoxville isn't sure about this one.

As if that wasn't gross enough, he then leans into a goldfish bowl and starts sticking his fingers down his throat, hoping to regurgitate the creature whole.

And, wouldn't you know it, he actually does it.

Now, the water definitely looks a little murkier than it was before Steve-O drank it, but that fish looked just fine, if not a little shaken up.

Thrilled with himself for the successful prank, a young Steve tells the camera: "I've never done that before. That's the first time to even try it."

Well, you would certainly hope so, wouldn't you?

Sharing a clip of the unforgettable moment in a recent post to Instagram, Steve-O, 48, wrote: "This was the first 'stunt' I ever did for @jackass.

"It was an idea I’d been saving for the right moment, which worked out pretty well! #YeahDude."

While many of Steve-O's fans remembered the horrific stunt fondly, others couldn't believe that he had ever gotten away with it in the first place.

"The 90s was wild lol no way this would fly now," commented one viewer.

"Peta would be all over you now... I'm sure they were back then but no outlets like now for them to actually affect you guys."

Another wrote: "God damn, I remember seeing this clip for the first time waaaaaaaay back when."

And a third reminisced: "I remember watching this for the first time late 99 I think, and I was throwing up watching him throw up."

Steve-O also spoke about the fishy stunt in the film Jackass Forever, remembering the moment that he knew he had made it.

"I thought it was going to be a banger," he told cameras.

"I'll never forget after this, Knoxville said, 'Well Steve-O, if you're not already famous, you're gonna be now."

And the rest, as they say, was history.
