Stranger Things Fans Confused As BTS Footage Shows Huge Scene Filmed On An iPhone

Stranger Things 4 has been released exclusively via Netflix's streaming service in two volumes

Stranger Things fans are confused by a clip of some behind-the-scenes footage being filmed on an iPhone. Watch below:

Now that series four of the the hugely popular sci-fi drama is well underway, fans have got plenty of content to keep them busy.

Set in the '80s, the show follows a group of school kids who explore supernatural goings-on in the fictional town of Hawkins.

The first series premiered back in 2016 and it's been almost three years since the last season - in large part due to Covid-19.

However, as a TikTok video has shown, a huge scene looks to have been recorded on an iPhone and some fans are a bit puzzled as to why one of the biggest Netflix series ever is being recorded on a smartphone.

I know Covid hit the entertainment industry pretty hard, but we didn't expect their budget to be this stretched?

Well, people have been quick to comment on the viral vid, with one user writing: "Using a iPhone because they used all the budget on Max's scene."

A second added: "Pov: me and my siblings making a movie when we were 8."

While a third commented: "This was me and my brothers when we re created clash of clans real life version."

Although, as other fans pointed out, it seems that the iPhone was used merely as a rehearsal, where cast members would practice some choreography.

One fan claims: "They're practicing the camera movement because the scene was a sequence shot, really difficult to do."

A second adds: "Guys this is a screen walkthrough/rehearsal. They typically shoot these so the DP and camera ops also get a feel for how the camera moves."

Another added: "This is called blocking/rehearsal, recording it so they see how to film & remember blocking on how to move during scenes. big productions use cameras."

Someone else commented: "I thought this is the actual scene but they are [sic] just practicing."

As fans look to be enjoying the new season, there has been one small criticism labelled at the show since it started.

Because it's been nearly three years since the last season aired, the cast are finding it challenging to remain looking young enough to be in high school.

In the first season, some of the stars were only 12; whereas now, their ages range from 17 to 20.

In an interview with Today, 19-year-old Gaten Matarazzo (who plays Dustin Henderson) said: "It's something we're always thinking about, but it's something we work with pretty well I think.

"The characters are at transitional periods in their lives... it's crazy to see what all of us looked like when we first started."
