Vampires have been having a bit of a moment for, well, more than a century. But before Twilight gave us sparkly boyfriends and The Vampire Diaries gave us a whole lot of supernatural drama, there was Dracula.
Now, you can step into Bram Stoker's 1897 gothic classic yourself, with an immersive experience coming to Sydney this October.
For two nights only, on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October, Audible is taking over the historic Darling House for a 16+ after-dark Dracula experience where you become part of the story.

The experience puts you in the shoes of Mina Harker, Dracula's heroine, as you make your way through the heritage mansion. And you'll need to pay attention.
Hidden clues will be scattered throughout Darling House, giving you the chance to piece together what's happening as you explore. You’ll also be able to take home some Dracula-inspired keepsakes, including a journal and photo from the photo booth for all of your detective needs.
It's also not your standard haunted-house situation. There won't be people jumping out from behind doors or scares designed to make you scream. Instead, the experience builds on Dracula’s creeping gothic suspense.
The whole thing takes place in 30-minute sessions, with small groups moving through the house after dark.
Given how exclusive the weekend event is, tickets are limited, so round up your group chat quickly to avoid missing out. Arrive dressed in your best gothic finery to immerse yourself in the famous story. Plus, tickets are just $20 per person.
The experience celebrates Audible's new star-studded adaptation of Dracula, featuring some seriously recognisable names. Bridgerton favourite Jonathan Bailey plays Dracula, with Ella Purnell as Mina, Aimee Lou Wood as Lucy, Louis Partridge as Jonathan, David Jonsson as Dr Seward, Lesley Manville as Mrs Westenra and Maggie Gyllenhaal as Professor Van Helsing, among others.

The adaptation is being released globally in seven languages, with each production featuring a full ensemble cast.
As for the original story, Dracula was first published in 1897, introducing readers to the Count who would go on to become one of fiction's most famous monsters. The character is often linked to Vlad III, aka Vlad the Impaler, although exactly how much Bram Stoker borrowed from the 15th-century ruler remains debated…
So, if you've ever wondered what it would actually be like to walk into Dracula's world, this is probably as close as you'll get without booking a one-way ticket to Transylvania.
