Michael Jackson’s nephew has spoken out against Harry Styles being coined as the new 'King of Pop'.

After Rolling Stone magazine gave the ‘As It Was’ singer the new title, Taj Jackson took to Twitter to make his feelings known.

Taj tweeted: “There is no new King of Pop.

"You don’t own the title @RollingStone, and you didn’t earn it, my uncle did.

"Decades of dedication and sacrifice. The title has been retired.

There is no new King of Pop. You don’t own the title @RollingStone, and you didn’t earn it, my uncle did. Decades of dedication and sacrifice. The title has been retired. No disrespect to @Harry_Styles, he’s mega talented. Give him his own unique title. https://t.co/td6SSSVkfX

“No disrespect to @Harry_Styles, he’s mega talented. Give him his own unique title.”

Of course, the comment section lit up following Taj's remarks, as one person wrote: “This is why Janet is the better Jackson bye.”

Another commented: “I like they blamed Rolling Stone tho cuz this isn't Harry's fault but the hates are going to be on him regardless.”

A third person wrote: “Mariah needs to trademark Queen of Christmas right now ASAP, before delusional rolling pebbles gives it to some random singer!”

However, some rushed to Taj’s defence, as one person commented: “What impact did Harry leave on the music industry?

“He didn't inspire a new genre or a different sound he's just building his career on the remains popularity and the nostalgia of 80s-90s music and the queer-baiting.”

Styles’ recent cover of Rolling Stone is officially the publication’s first global cover, appearing in US, UK and Latin magazines.

During his interview with the publication, he was asked about the concept of queer-baiting.

Harry Styles has been revealed as one of the key investors for the project.

Queerbaiting, for those who might be unaware, is when someone – an artist, a company, or similar – uses LGBTQ+ aesthetics or hints at representation without actually being a member of the community.

The former One Direction star has often dressed in his life and career in a way that is gender fluid – he’s hardly the first music star to do that – and has spoken extensively about how he has no wish to be pigeon-holed or labelled.

“Sometimes people say, ‘You’ve only publicly been with women,’ and I don’t think I’ve publicly been with anyone," he told Rolling Stone.

“If someone takes a picture of you with someone, it doesn’t mean you’re choosing to have a public relationship or something.”

On his private life, Styles added: “I’ve never talked about my life away from work publicly and found that it’s benefited me positively.

“There’s always going to be a version of a narrative, and I think I just decided I wasn’t going to spend the time trying to correct it or redirect it in some way.”
