Woman rocks up to concert in disguise because she called in sick for work

The fan wanted to remain anonymous as they'd called in sick to get in line

A Taylor Swift fan has given a truly iconic live interview, having conducted the chat from beneath a fluffy blanket to conceal her identity. Why, you may ask? Because she was skiving off work to bag some merch, of course.

Thousands were camped out in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, ahead of the grand opening of the Taylor Swift merchandise truck, which would be parked up for three days for fans to get their hands on $75 dollar hoodies and $40 tank tops, among other pieces.

One Cincinnati.com journalist said they were waiting in line for 10 hours, having interviewed another person who said it was like her ‘Super Bowl’.

WKRC-TV Local 12 was also there to speak to those in the queue, with Annie Brown reporting live.

“There are two Swifties here who shall remain anonymous, who called in sick to work,” she said.

“They travelled here from Louisville, so they’ve gotten quite a drive here. They’ve been here since about 2.45 in the morning.”

The fans had been there since 2.45am.

Behind her were two people with blankets over their heads, one wearing a pair of sunglasses over the top.

The reporter turned to one of them and asked: “Can you tell me what Taylor Swift means to you – she must mean a lot to you, because you’re here and you’ve called in sick.”

She replied: “That is very true. I almost called my daughter’s middle name Taylor, so..."

The fan said she was hoping to snag the ‘grey quarter zip’ top from the merch truck, and that she had tickets to one of the shows this weekend.

When asked what she was looking forward to the most from the performance, she said: “I’m taking an 11-year-old little girl – it's her first time. I went to the show in Nashville, so it’s more for her.”

The iconic clip soon went viral online.

The reporter said she’d be crossing her fingers that the fan’s work wouldn’t find out, adding: “Your secret’s safe with me! I think it’s safe with everyone else here too.”

Many social media users found the whole exchange hilarious when it was posted on Twitter by the station, with one commenting: "Keep it weird, Louisville."

Someone else said: "LMFAOOOOOOO. I just know she gon f**k around and wear that same gray quarter zip to work one day and tell on herself."

A third added: "Most hilarious thing I've ever seen on the news!"
