TikTok is the gift that keeps on giving as a new viral clip of a Golden Retriever has got people talking - largely because of how strange it is.

The happy dog, named Pancake, is known to enjoy the water, swimming and sea creatures.

Often seen with a cute fin on his back to help with aerodynamics, Pancake has been to a waterpark, spent time with dolphins, met seals and dived into the sea numerous times in his lifetime - which is probably more than any of us can say we've done.

And with over 96.1k followers on TikTok, it's fair to say that a lot of people care about him.

But this video seems to take it to the next level, leaving fans genuinely worried about the water-crazy canine.

In the six-second viral clip, Pancake can be seen sitting completely still and panting at what looks like the bottom of the pool, though many have already speculated on how it can't be possible - could it?

Maybe our Golden friend has developed powers after spending that much time in and around water - I mean, weirder things have happened.

And fans of Pancake quickly took to the comments of the viral clip to demand 'an explanation'.

One user wrote: "You better tell us what this is before we all lose our minds"

A second posted: "Why did this almost give me a anxiety attack? Good grief, I need to get a grip."

Someone else said: "An aquarium? My mind isn't minding."

While a fourth said: "I’m not happy. I need an explanation."

Other users also came up with their own theories of what looked like an optical illusion.

A fifth theorised: "That has to be a reflection. Video taken from the inside," while a sixth user said: "It’s an empty pool and the water filter."

Someone else commented: "Guys it’s a place you can go to, the bottom is a room with a glass roof."

And an eighth person said: "Definitely like a basement with a clear ceiling under the pool."

A previous video certainly supports the 'glass roof' theory as it shows Pancake vibing on the pool floor while wearing a stylish set of Crocs, with someone pointing out that he 'definitely wouldn't be panting underwater'.

Since the first video was uploaded, the account has posted a couple of videos - though none have included an explanation behind that viral clip.

I guess what we all want to know, once and for all is, what is the dog doing?

LADbible has reached out to Pancake's owner for comment.
