We all know by now that men can't stop thinking about the Roman Empire, but women have started to wonder what the female equivalent might be.

If you’re on TikTok and you haven’t seen this trend, you must be hiding under a rock because there actually seems to be no escaping it.

The ‘For You Page’ has been flooded with curious girlfriends asking their boyfriends how often they think about the Roman Empire. We know, it's weird and random.

There isn’t even currently a concrete explanation as to why men frequently think about this period of history so much, but now the girls are starting to wonder, what’s their version?

One answer which is founded on a more substantial basis than the Roman Empire is the possibility of being victims of violence at any point.

Danyelle Leyden, a popular TikToker, said that something she always thinks about is: “Definitely being kidnapped, or just in general somebody’s gonna get me.”

Speaking with the Insider, she continued: “It speaks volumes for society that women are so cautious and have to feel on guard most of their lives.

“I think unfortunately most women have had past experiences that led them to be this cautious.

“For me it also puts into further perspective that as women we feel like prey subconsciously.”

People in the comments agreed, with one saying: “Genuinely think about being kidnapped every day.”

Another said: “Being abducted while out for a walk and how we will escape.”

Some came up with slightly more lighthearted conclusions, with one saying: “I firmly believe that there are four.

“The six wives of Henry VIII, the Titanic, obviously, not the movie but the Titanic, the Romanovs, and, of course, Greek mythology.”

The trend has gone so viral, one lad even tried to explain the logic behind the Roman Empire theory, although we’re not quite sold on it just yet.

TikTokker @themasculineedge said: “Men inherently have the need to conquer.

"We always have and we always will.

"We want to conquer everything. We’re adventurous.

“We need and seek that, and if we don’t have it then we imagine it.

“If your man is thinking about their own empire and then conquering, it’s because he’s not conquering enough in his life himself."

The possible explanation is almost just as bizarre as the trend itself, but at least we have something to work with.
