Built in 1820 as a Church of Ireland chapel, Bookeen Hall is a protected building and a national monument - how many Airbnbs can say that?

When Hozier sang 'Take Me To Church', do you reckon he was singing about this Airbnb of our dreams located in Athenry, Galway?

We'll admit it's unlikely but when you take a look at this stunning restored Church which has been converted into a stylish, two-bedroom apartment for holiday-makers, we think you'll agree it's not out of the realm of possibility.

As well as a spacious living area, the master bedroom comes complete with its own bell tower/reading room where you can soak up the breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. A private bathroom also includes a claw-foot bathtub for a truly regal experience.

Whilst the inside and outside of this charming abode are undeniably beautiful, it comes with a few bonus features that seem to cement it as a top notch accommodation choice in the eyes of most guests.

The first would be a home-cooked breakfast delivered by the hosts each morning that gets rave reviews - hosts can accommodate for any dietary requirements, and also typically include their own delicious home-baked bread.

The second would be an adorable pair of dogs named Birdy and Piglet who also live on the property, who we're told are extremely friendly!

"Location is perfect, only 30 min from Galway, close to many other attractions. The building itself is beautiful, I have never stayed in the converted church before. The hosts' attention to detail was amazing, breakfast was a piece of art," a past guest named Ewa gushed. "And the dogs were gorgeous," she continued.

"Chris and Orla are extremely nice and welcoming hosts. The space itself is so interesting and unique, and the two friendly dogs really added to the experience," wrote another guest named David. "Wonderful breakfast too, would highly recommend staying here."

You can make a 'bookeen' at Bookeen Hall from as cheap as €120 a night and there seems to be lots of availability at the moment - time to get planning your January staycation!Featured Image Credit: Airbnb
