A couple who have quintuplets, triplets and two sets of twins have taken part in a new documentary series showing what it's like living with such a massive family.

Karen and Deon Derrico star in the TLC series Doubling Down with the Derricos, alongside their 14 children. Yeah, you read that correctly.

The series, which took more than a year to film, kicks off while Karen is pregnant with triplets while raising their 11 other kids, who were all conceived naturally.

Describing what it's like to have so many kids, Deon said: "Having four sets of multiples back to back? It's like getting struck by lightning while getting struck by lightning.

"Many parents know with just one child, two children, it's a job. But when you have soon-to-be 14, it's a job."

Karen and Deon had two children, then a set of twins, followed by quintuplets, then a second set of twins and finally their triplets. Anyone else feel slightly stressed out just reading that?

In a preview for the show, Karen said: "We have our good days and our bad days. But there's always enough love."

The show starts off following Karen and the rest of the family as she goes through her pregnancy.

At 24 weeks Karen is told by doctors to spend the rest of her pregnancy on bedrest; leaving poor Deon to look after 11 kids - aged between two and 14 - while also looking after the home. Rather you than me, pal.

As well as running around after his kids, Deon is also worried about his unborn triplets, admitting: "Our triplet babies have not had enough time in the womb, and I am just terrified."

TLC president and general manager Howard Lee said in a statement: "TLC has always been the home for extraordinary families, and with multiple multiples the Derricos take 'extraordinary' to a whole new level!

"They bring a fresh voice, perspective and willingness to share their culture and values.

"And while their size may be unique, their story is universally relatable - devoted parents trying to raise their children the best way they know how all while navigating life's ups and downs. We are proud and excited to introduce TLC viewers to the Derricos."

Doubling Down with the Derricos lands on TLC on 11 August.
