People Baffled By How Amanda Holden Pronounces Wasabi In New Show

It wasn't the only thing about the E4 show that left people baffled

A new E4 programme had viewers scratching their heads - particularly when Amanda Holden said the word 'wasabi'. You can watch her bizarre pronunciation of the word below:

The show, entitled The Holden Girls: Mandy & Myrtle, sees the 50-year-old attempt to live with her grandma in her London home - except it's not her grandma, it's Leigh Francis, aka Keith Lemon.

The reality TV show spoof premiered last night (Tuesday 7 September) and the bizarre programme reached peak oddness when the Britain's Got Talent Judge attempted to say 'wasabi'.

Sorry Amanda, what's 'wossabee'?

Viewers wasted no time in pointing it out.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: "Wosabbey???"

Another said of the show: "Isn't this just a bad copy of Meera Syal's fab Ummi from The Kumars at No. 42?

"And that pronunciation of 'wasabi' can eff off too."

A third added: "What, pray tell, the f**k is going on with that pronunciation of wasabi!?

"It's neither the anglicised way or the Japanese way, she's just banged an 'o' in place of the first 'a'!?"

Here, have some wossabee.

In Holden's defence, given that the show is a spoof, perhaps she was simply parodying Nigella Lawson, whose playful pronunciation of 'microwave' went viral last year.

That said, her pronunciation of wasabi seems to be the least of the show's problems, as many people panned it on social media, with one person even claiming it could be the worst show ever made.

They tweeted: "I caught less than ten seconds of #mandyandmyrtle but that was more than enough for me to know with some degree of certainty that it is beyond doubt the worst show ever made."

Comedy is subjective though, and other viewers thought the show was great:
