Fans of hit Netflix series You have been left feeling absolutely baffled after someone spotted a hilarious detail in the new season.

In an episode of the most recent series, Joe (Penn Badgley) is sending wife Love (Victoria Pedretti) an instant message - telling her: "Come by my house ASAP. Emergency."

However, one person noticed not all is what it seems with the instant message exchange, having zoomed in on what is supposedly Joe's profile picture.

Yep, it looks NOTHING like him, meaning the eagle-eyed TikToker Annabelle (@annabellleryan) hastily took to social media to share her amusing discovery.

"I'M LOSING MY MIND????" she wrote.

"WHO IS THAT?????? ITS JOEY SILVERBERG."

In the video, Annabelle explained: "You season 3... JOE'S MESSENGER PIC?? HELLO???"

She added in a voiceover: "Who is that?! No it's not! What do his eyes look like?"

And it seems many others agree that the 'Joe' pictured is not the one viewers know and love, with Annabelle's video racking up 1.3 million views and more than 173,000 likes.

Some said he looked like 'Elon Musk', 'Steve Buscemi' and even 'Chandler Bing', with one person commenting: "Penn Badgley wasn't available for the photo shoot so they got Peen Badleg from set design to step in and called it a day."

Someone else quipped: "When you order Joe Goldberg from Wish."

A third asked: "How hard would it have been to use a single picture of him I'm so confused about the laziness lmao."

Another agreed: "Out of all the money generated off of this show they couldn't even Google Penn Badgley's picture."

A fifth took things a little further by sharing a slightly mind-boggling theory, writing: "It's be hilarious if that's what he actually was supposed to look [like] and he was just imagining he was more attractive than he is."

Others admitted it felt 'funnier than it should be', while some expressed their horror after not spotting what is now a very obvious blunder.

The highly anticipated third season returned to our screens on 15 October, welcoming Joe and Love's new child.

Of course, Joe is soon back on the stalking - this time, the object of his obsession being his neighbour Natalie (Michaela McManus). This goes about as well as expected, with Love clearly not taking Joe's wandering eye lying down.

And the good news is that if you've already binged season three, Netflix has announced it's already commissioned a fourth season of the hit TV series.
