Alex Scott admits she almost walked out of I’m A Celeb jungle after devastating discovery

She opened up on how she felt when she saw Jess Glynne wasn't waiting for her on the bridge

Alex Scott has revealed the heartbreaking reason why she almost left I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! before she was even evicted.

The football pundit, 41, received the fewest votes and became the first celebrity to be evicted from the jungle on Friday's (28 November) episode.

Fans noticed that her partner Jess Glynne wasn't there to greet her during her I'm A Celeb exit walk on the red bridge.

Taking to Instagram, the singer explained that she couldn't fly out to Australia because her mother suffered a stroke and 'needed urgent brain surgery'.

"I know people will wonder why I wasn’t there at the end of the bridge, so I wanted to share something personal," she wrote.

"It’s been a really serious, life-altering time for my family, and I’ve had to stay close to home."

In an interview with the Mirror, Alex revealed that it was the reason why she nearly pulled out of the show.

“Oh, yeah, absolutely, 100 percent. But Jess was the one that wanted me to do this, so that's why I wanted to go in and still make her proud,” she said.

Instead of Jess, the former Arsenal player's close friend Regan Coleman greeted her at the bridge.

“It's been a tough time for us and obviously her family, and it was a tough decision to come into the jungle, but then Jess never wanted me to step away from doing it,” Alex added.

“I knew there was always a possibility of her not being across the bridge, if her mum hadn't got better, or if things had been getting worse, which they have been.

“But it was a big decision for me to not pass this opportunity, and Jess was the one that pushed me to be here.”

When Alex realised that Regan was waiting for her instead of Jess, she said she wanted to get in touch with her right away.

“My first thought when I didn't see Jess on the bridge was that I needed to FaceTime and speak to her,” she admitted.

“I found that really tough in the jungle, not being able to speak to Jess every day and just check in and see what's going on, and how she was doing.

“When we did speak, it was an emotional moment.”

During her exit interview, Alex said she was grateful for her experience in the jungle and that 'it's been really special to connect with a group of people that have allowed me to just be me'.
