Big Brother star's life 21 years after X-rated hot tub 'pregnancy' scene

Big Brother is back and, in unsurprising fashion for the longtime controversial TV show, has seen its first major controversy in the very first episode.

Charlotte, an 18-year-old who is taking part in the newest series, was forced to remove her legs to enter the house in a shock moment that has seen ITV come under fire, though they have since released a statement on the ‘incredibly awkward’ live moment.

This wild start to a new season will make many fans of the TV show think about the craziest moments of the show’s history, and it’s impossible to think about lists of these moments without thinking about Makosi Musambasi from season six.

Makosi entered the house as an NHS cardiac nurse, dominating the narrative of the 2005 edition of Big Brother.

She then made headlines after getting into some X-Rated hot tub fun with fellow housemate Anthony Hutton.

Makosi ended up saying in the diary room just hours later that she was worried that she was pregnant with Anthony’s child, despite the pair repeatedly in the years since having stated that they did not have ‘full sex’.

She demanded a pregnancy test and said she was ‘100% sure’ she was pregnant, a fact that ended up of course not being true.

The pair ended up going far in the show, with Anthony winning the whole series and Makosi coming in third, but she actually faced a very negative reaction upon leaving the house.

Davina McCall, who conducted her exit interview, received over 500 complaints with several calling her a ‘bully’. She ended up addressing this in 2010, telling Digital Spy: “I haven't watched Makosi's interview back, but there was a bit of a furore about me being mean to her.

“When I left that interview, I thought she'd behaved worse than I had, but if I was mean to her as well [as another interview with contestant from Celebrity Big Brother in 2010 which she regretted] I apologise for that.”

She was shockingly deported as a result of the show after it was discovered that the ‘sabbatical’ she had applied for had been to appear on Big Brother.

Her visa for staying in the UK hinged on working for the NHS and, though the sabbatical was initially approved, she was kicked out the country after season six finished following a battle to stay, saying she felt ‘betrayed’ in an interview with the Daily Star.

Both her and Anthony actually returned to the show in 2010 when they appeared on Ultimate Big Brother, an all-stars season, where they discussed the viral controversy.

Anthony joked he had been willing to take a lie detector test to confirm they didn’t have sex on the show, with Makosi adding: “We didn't have sex. I am glad we cleared the air now. I hope my mum is watching this.”

Her life now is very different however off the back of the success from the show.

She lives in Dubai after moving to Nigeria following her visa troubles post-Big Brother, working as a motivational speaker, life coach, and author.

In the years in between however, she survived a scare with Breast Cancer in 2017, having a mastectomy and chemotherapy. She told the Mirror: “I lost my hair and I almost lost my identity. And when I was doing my radiation, I was looking for that thing to give me back my confidence again.

“Because at this point you're looking in the mirror, you're bald and you don't know who this new person is. Where did the confidence go? Where did the courage go? Where did the lioness in me go?

“Cancer is not going to define me, cancer won’t make me hide.”
