Euphoria’s newest episode continues the trend of the third season upping the ante and bringing some of the most shocking scenes of the whole series, even if everyone isn’t loving the show.
Season three of Euphoria has been on the receiving end of some fairly bad reviews, sitting at 42% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite this though it has gone viral at multiple points in its first three episodes, whether it be Zendaya’s Rue swallowing drugs in a disgusting scene or whatever weird sex thing they are having Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie do at any given time.
The newest episode however gives us an insight into Hunter Schafer’s Jules and her new life as a sugar baby, including seeing her be ‘Mummified’ in plastic wrap.

This is actually a real BDSM kink and a Dominatrix has spoken about why being on the receiving end can be ‘thrilling’, even if she had a serious warning about anyone considering it.
The Euphoria scene is a real kink, and it’s all about giving up control

Mummification is a form of bondage in which people use plastic wrap, bandages, or tape to fully encase someone and restrict their movement.
Speaking exclusively to LADbible, Dominatrix Melissa Todd spoke about what the appeal is for people interested in mummification.
She explained: “You want to be out of control and it's a kind of bondage that you do without any sort of pain really. You know, [the sub who is mummified is] literally tucked away and you can't wriggle a single inch.”
Todd said that for people who enjoy being placed in bondage it ‘seems to be an innate urge to feel helpless and in somebody else's control and mercy and powerless’.
The dominatrix and BDSM expert stated that it can be like ‘having all responsibility taken away from you’, adding: “Just having every inch of your body controlled by somebody else is just thrilling… It's just the best way to relax is just having every responsibility taken, from you in this totally physical, obviously visual way.”
As a BDSM expert she explained what it’s like to be ‘mummified’ as Jules was in Euphoria
Todd stated that, due in part to safety concerns around the practice, she has never been mummified but has experienced something very similar.
The dominatrix said she had been placed inside a ‘vac-bed’, a vacuum bed where someone is placed entirely in latex and a suction pump removes all the air from it.
Speaking about the experience, she stated it was ‘quite similar’ to mummification and said: “Oh it was genuinely thrilling and terrifying. It was for a photo shoot, it was a man I didn't know very well and there's an element of pure terror.”

She claimed that she felt ‘utterly helpless’, adding: “You know you couldn't move a toe and then he started talking about using a magic wand on me which he didn't do but I thought ‘I am absolutely at this man's mercy’.”
Todd said she was ‘glad when it was over’ but added that she ‘really wanted to get back and do it all over again and I haven't stopped thinking about it’.
The expert in BDSM explained that a big part of mummification is ‘breath play’, a popular form of erotic asphyxiation within BDSM. She said: “It’s just, when you're breath deprived, you get this very intense sensation of euphoria, which I guess is just some chemical thing that's happening in your brain that's very glad to be getting oxygen again.”
Whilst she found the scene interesting, Todd had a clear warning for people considering trying it – and actually criticised another storyline in the new season of Euphoria.
Mummification is a very dangerous kink, and can even be deadly

When discussing if she had ever tried mummification, Todd pointed to the 2014 case of Richard Bowler and Alun Williams in which Williams died of a heart attack after being wrapped in cling film during a consensual bondage session. Bowler was found guilty of manslaughter through gross negligence and was jailed for five years.
Oftentimes a kink being portrayed in a major show can lead to an uptick in people trying it at home, but Todd urged people to exercise caution if they were considering it. She said: “For god's sake don't leave people alone… just keep checking in on them.
“Often you can get into this what they call ‘sub-space’ and you’re just in such a moment of ecstasy you forget to be sensible and worry about the risk… obviously make sure you're doing it with someone you absolutely trust who doesn't want you dead.
“Don’t do it with somebody you just met on tinder! Don't abandon them even if they say that's what they, want make sure you have CCTV or something.”
Todd stated that she’s glad that Jules and Cassie’s storylines are leading to a wider discussion around sex workers, but expressed concern about one aspect of Sweeney’s Cassie and her storyline.
She said: “I was particularly annoyed about the adult baby stuff I have to say in the pet play that isn't allowed on OnlyFans they just talk to anyone on OnlyFans they'd have told them that.”
