Euphoria might have come to an end last week, but that third and final season is still being talked about.
Well, at least by Sydney Sweeney anyway.
The star had some controversial scenes throughout the episodes to put it lightly, as her character, Cassie, engaged in ‘age play’ and used an offensive slur.
That final season of Euphoria saw Cassie embark on an OnlyFans career (as well as that small hiccup of her husband, Nate (Jacob Elordi), getting beaten and then buried alive) which became a huge talking point.

And now Sweeney has reflected on this storyline as she shares her true thoughts on Cassie’s journey.
Real life adult stars have already called out the character’s career choice while the actor was meanwhile praised as being ‘totally fearless’ in her approach.

Euphoria creator Sam Levinson apparently suggested dialling things back a bit before filming even began, but he claimed Sweeney insisted her storyline wouldn’t make sense with all the nudity.
“She looked at me and she was like, ‘Are you kidding? I’m playing an OnlyFans model. You’re telling me you’re going to, like, skirt around it?'” he told the New York Times.
And now, in a new interview, the actor explained that from the beginning, Cassie ‘has this need to be loved’.
Vanity Fair asked Sweeney how she’d came about understanding the character’s ‘obsession with being famous’ on the platform and why it felt ‘right for her’.
“She has a need to be validated by other people,” she said. “She doesn’t know how to love herself unless someone else loves her.”
So, based on this need for validation, Sweeney can totally see how Levinson got Cassie to this point when season three finally rolled along.
“I think she was more excited by the idea of all these people loving her and knowing who she is and feeling like her world isn’t small,” the Anyone But You star added.

Addressing her conversations with the creator about the nudity for the season, it was all about ‘playing a character’ for her.
“Do I agree with all of Cassie’s decisions? Would I personally make these choices? No, of course not,” Sweeney explained.
“But I’m an actor and that’s my job and this is Cassie’s life and to be able to do her justice and play her how she’s to be played is to bring Sam’s vision to life and to play Cassie in the most vulnerable and insane way possible.”
