The Italian celebrity chef has opened up about his TV future after ITV cancelled Gino's Cooking Up Love

Gino D’Acampo has opened up about his future on the telly after his recent cooking show was axed.

The celebrity chef, 46, made only two episodes of Gino’s Cooking Up Love which aired in December last year before ITV decided against commissioning a full series.

The axed show fused dating with cooking, which sounds like a winning combo but apparently that wasn’t the case.

In the programme, Gino opened up his cooking school to six singletons looking for love as they attempted to find a connection through their love of food.

Now, the This Morning star has confessed he’s not planning on making any more TV shows in the future.

In news that may feel like a dagger to the heart for Gino’s biggest fans, the star admitted he ‘never wanted to be on television’.

He told Closer magazine: “I was discovered by a producer as I was cooking and he asked me to be on television and that’s how it happened. I’m living someone else’s dream."

“I do it because I enjoy it and I like watching television, but I don’t really have a any ambition to do more TV,” he confessed.

Gino’s bombshell confession about his future on TV comes after he announced he was stepping back from the hit ITV series, Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip.

He shared the news with fans on Instagram back in March, explaining that he would be bowing out of the show after the third series due to issues with his contract.

Gino stressed that he’s still friends with his co-stars Gordon Ramsay and Fred Sirieix but said he felt he had no option but to quit due to numerous reasons including the filming schedule.

In the video, Gino explained: “Last week I decided not to film any more Gordon, Gino and Fred Road Trips. The reason is very simple - nothing to do with Gordon or Fred, the friendship is very strong.

"It’s just because we can’t get the dates together and sometimes when we do get the dates together sometimes they get changed and it causes a lot of problems for me because I have other stuff that I have to do.

"Personal problems as well because when I have to change things with my family it is very complicated and also because contracts.”
