Gogglebox stars Stephen Webb and Daniel Lustig-Webb have decided to hang up their TV remote and leave the show after years of entertaining viewers.

Stephen Webb has been a familiar face on Gogglebox since the show first began in 2013, making fans laugh with his quips and impressions relating to whatever the stars happened to be watching that week.

He originally featured on the show with his former partner Christopher Steed, but was joined on the sofa by his mum, Pat, in 2017 after Christopher left the series.

In 2019, Pat left to make way for Daniel, who joined the series for its 13th season in 2019.

Stephen and Daniel's departure was announced by Gogglebox creators Studio Lambert and Channel 4, which explained in a statement that it was time for the pair to turn off the TV.

Metaphorically, of course. I'm sure they'll still be tuning in every now and again - it just won't be broadcast for the entire country.

The statement said: "After a brilliant and illustrious time on Gogglebox, Stephen and Daniel have decided that now is the right time to explore life beyond the sofa and leave the show.

"As one of the original Goggleboxers, Stephen has entertained the nation with his hilarious quips since the show first started in 2013, sharing his opinions on the best and biggest TV events of the last ten years.

"We would like to thank him and Daniel for being utterly brilliant contributors to the show, and we wish them well with their future projects."

Stephen confirmed the news in a statement of his own released on Instagram, writing: "After careful consideration, Daniel and I have decided we will not be returning for the new series of Gogglebox. We feel the time is right to move on and explore other opportunities."

"We would like to thank both Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for letting us be part of this amazing, funny and heartwarming show," Stephen and Daniel continued.

"We are also extremely thankful to the cast and crew, or Gogglebox family as we call them and of course the fans, thank you for all of your love & support over the years.

News of Stephen and Daniel's departure has devastated longtime fans, with many making clear they'll miss seeing the faces of the pair on Friday nights.

"Aw, they are such fun," one fan commented.

Another added: "Awwww totally gutted , you are by far THE BEST couple on there, you be missed . However, good luck in your future ventures."
